AMD Phenom II x4 960T OC 4 cores vs 6 cores

There are many many posts on the topic of which is better on the 960T but I was hoping someone could lay it straight for me.

I wish to stream my gaming online to sites such as twitch.tv and I was wondering which would be more beneficial: the quad core overclocked, or the hexa core stock at 3.0GHz?

Since I am still only using the stock cooling fan at the moment, I can't do much about over clocking (too high) until I get a better cooling fan.

I have noticed without overclocking my CPU that I do get some performance drops while streaming (everything runs perfectly while not streaming) and that the stream sometimes stutters. This info is negligible but hopefully you can see what I'm aiming at.

Also, I have a few questions about the effects of overclocking the CPU such as tweaking the clock speed and balancing it out with the v-core safely and what difference would it make regarding how many cores I choose to use.

Thanks,
Cloo

I´d try a SuperPI test Phenom II x4 960T @4Ghz vs Phenom II x6 1605T @sTOCK also compare in games, I can advice you on cooling too

thanks for those links, I've skimmed over them. Pretty much figuring out a desirable balance between performance and 'risking' hardware crashes is based on testing it myself. Or so I've gathered..

I tried to pi test on 3.6GHz at 1.4v and I got a crash. I lowered it to 3.4GHz at 1.375 and it is stable. I also tried streaming a game with the cores unlocked at 3.2 GHz and I didn't really notice much but I reverted back to Quad core quickly after just for safety since I'm only using stock cooling..

I guess I should just wait until I invest in new cooling before going crazy.. unless anyone else has personal stories, those would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Cloo
