Which motherboard for crossfire 7970

My current system:

Intel i5 2500k 3.3Ghz
16 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600Mhz
Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z Gen 3 Z68
XFX Radeon R7970 3GB Black Edition
Corsair 850W HX Modular PSU

Playing at 6048x1080. Eyefinity setup.

I obviously need to upgrade mobo, cuz its mATX. Budget for mobo is £150 can go up to £200. Currently looking at the http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-fatal1ty-z68-professional-gen3-intel-z68-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d Is Z68 meant to be best for gaming?

Could i5 cause bottlenecks? If yes, then what should I go for?

Why do you need to upgrade? Gene-z does cfx. How many cards are you planning on using would be the next question? If you go for more than 3 gpu, get x79, end of story.

A high clocked 2500K can feed two 7970s easily.

OP your motherboard supports CF with PCI-E dual 8x operation . 8x is more than enough for any graphics card. you don't need a new motherboard. as long as you pick cards with 2 slot coolers you should be fine. do not pick cards wth 2.5x slot coolers like sapphire HD 7970 OC or Sapphire HD 7970 Ghz vapor-x. the xfx hd 7970 dd or gigabyte hd 7970 windforce should work

If you still want a better board for more slot spacing between cards the Asrock Z77 EXTREME 4 is a good motherboard with 3 slot spacing between the PCI-E 16x slots.

slot spacing is a plus to me, i recently learned its value as i tried using a badly spaced 3rd slot on my mobo

just checked the mobo you suggested...and it only has 2 slots..... as an enthusiast i would at the point be looking for no less than 3.

its not that simple if you want the proper way....

Best i found was install each card individually IN THE SLOT that they will be sitting in.

Install one card, install drivers
Take it out
Install second, install drivers again
Put both in
cross fire cable that ***** (the orientation of the cable......i'd like to know if there is a diff)
install profiles
enable crossfire

Would be sick if someone corrected me if i was wrong, seeing as id like to do the same when i reinstall windows

All i did was install one card/drivers then added the second card and bridge and they work fine as far as i can tell.
I didnt even have to enable cf, it did it by itself.
