If you can find a cheap/cheap refurbed Razer Imperator or DeathAdder, consider those. DeathAdder is one of the most comfortable mice if you're a palm gripper, Imperator is one of the most handle-able (better for FPS) if you're a hybrid palm/fingertip gripper. I could just never justify paying full price for Razer mice tongue.gif

I recently ordered the CM Storm Xornet for $12.99 after MIR on Newegg, and it looks to be a solid mouse as well.

I can't speak on behalf of the Savu, but Roccat's customer service was awesome to me. I got a kone+ off of amazon that was "new", the box was pretty beaten up and the mouse had grease/prints. After a day or two I noticed the dreaded scroll wheel issue, common in the Kone+. My RMA took 2 weeks and I had a tourney to play so I picked up a DA from Best Buy. Once I got my Roccat Kone+ back from RMA it was about 2 weeks and the scroll wheel was just starting to get finicky again. Around that time I got an email from Roccat, they had pulled my RMA Kone+ from a bad batch and were sending me a new one for $FREE.99, a small mouse mat ($10) and told me to keep my old one as well. Keep in mind this is around a $90 mouse. And I now had 2. How can you get any better service than that?

Now, if I were to compare sensors, an optical on cloth wins for me hands down. Nothing more annoying than when you get a hair under a laser sensor, which always happens at the worst time. I use a cloth mat exclusively, so I won't make up stuff about hard surfaces.

DA double click, yes it happens and for mine it started pretty much right out the gate, granted it is not common on mine, probably less than 1 out of 1,000 clicks, but I don't see it getting any better. Also, in most situations it isn't an issue, but if you are sniping in tf2 it is super annoying to scope and unscope with 1 click.

Currently I switch between the two as I like them both to varying degrees. To be honest though, I don't think I would rebuy either of them.

I did a quick search on Deathadder 3.5G/BE issues and it definitely has me concerned, so getting Razer isn't going to be that likely. That leaves me with Zowie, Logitech, and Roccat.

If you want a very good optical mouse, I'd recommend you a Roccat Savu. Was on G500/Xai/MX518/DA3G/IMO1.1/etc./etc. before. This mouse is just awesome, but yeah. That's only my subjective point of view.

I got a G500 a couple weeks ago, love it so far so +1 to the G500.

Some good alternatives would be the G400, Sensei, Xai, Ikari and Roccat makes some nice stuff.

I tend to stay away from razer products, haven't really had a good experience with any of their stuff, they always just stop working or brake. But that's just me though, I am sure some people like razer so that is my opinion on that.

From an objective standpoint, they should be around the same, although I don't know if Roccat tried to fine-tune the mouse like what Zowie says they have done (lowered the LOD to 1.5mm I believe using curved lenses?).

What kind of issues are worrying you?

Usually a few minor ones that have been reported like double click, LOD, etc. Usually they can be fixed.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1252060/death-adder-sensor-issues-with-circular-motion/10

It's not too much to be worried about but it is rather inconvenient. I haven't heard of anything extreme. Maybe just a few DOA's or another sort of issue that happens when you get a lemon from a batch of them.
