What would you suggest for air?
Gigabyte Default Fans or the Extreme III?
I'm not very familiar with the card or the extreme iii but I remember somebody stating that the gigabyte and the extreme iii are almost the same in both cooling and noise because of this I would say go with the gigabyte card it spares you the work of opening up your GPU and if something were to go wrong with the card and you would have to RMA it you would have to remove the Extreme iii making it like twice the work for almost equal performance

You could get a great overclocking card with any of the 670s. It really is a lottery. Theres several people on here that have the gigabyte windforce 670s that easily get over 1300Mhz, whereas my 2 wont go past 1230 (in sli). The same goes for the evga FTW model, some people get great OC's and some don't. Also both cards use the 680 variant PCBs, and I know for a fact that the gigabyte windforce cards dont have the stacked connectors. If you went the gigabyte windforce you wont need to use a different cooler on it, the windforce cooler is great.

Meh... I heard that Gigabyte 670 has equivalent cooling performance to the 680 Asus. The Extreme 3 definitely does own (by 16 degrees in Gaming test), but this test might be a bit skewed. I'm currently running a Storm Trooper Case (equal or better than Haf X) and I don't see those temperatures happening.

Are the Gigabyte fans capable of having the fans keep the heat level down enough that it is a non existent issue?

I just want to avoid getting bottle necked by heat while I am overclocking - although stability/max voltage may come into play prior to it.

the asus and gigabyte coolers are also only dual slot, while the accelero is triple slot, hence why it is able to perform better (more area for the heat to dissipate).
if keeping at stock clocks or even a mild OC on the gigabyte card the fans on auto usually wont go past 50% while keeping temps in check.

edit* you cannot adjust voltages on the 600 series cards (unless you have a modified bios or a specific card that allows it) so voltages wont really play a part.

Pretty sure the Gigabyte can go up to 1.175 in EVGA Precision...

Anyways... I've pretty much decided to stick with Gigabyte's default setup for a while as it seems it's more of a question of do I want 60 or 45 on my temperatures - neither of which make a difference in preventing temperature throttling.

Now to decide 670 or 680... I'm 80% towards the 670.

1.175v is the maximum for all 600 (670s atleast that I know of) series cards (apart from the custom bios ones or ones that specifically allow overvolting) and pretty much the card will stay at that voltage while benching or gaming, and drop down when doing more basic tasks.
Throttling only happens at 70c by default on 600 series cards and will downclock itself to try and lower the temps (I think its only 15mhz each step though). So at 60c you wont notice any throttling.
This is my personal opinion, but I think the 670s are better value for money than the 680s, some people will disagree, but like I said it is my opinion.
