Replacing fan on phase change unit - more capacity?

Thread Starter
So I recently bought a custom phase change unit - without load its at about -52C, under load it tends to hover around -28C (I have a 1090T processor OCd to about 4.6ghz).

Even if I'm not playing games, it eventually gets to about -28C and the unit itself gets pretty hot (I believe it has 1 compressor and 2 condensers). I'm wondering - will the unit have a higher cooling capacity if I can cool the condensers more effectively - IE replacing the existing fan with a higher throughput fan?

Thanks in advance.

Some pictures would be helpful, dual consensor? Only person that I've seen use a dual set up is Gray..... If it is one of his units then it should be rated for around 300w...

Who built your unit? Is it the one in your profile picture?

It has to be a Gray Mole unit, he's the only person that I've seen run dual condensers on single stages, he loved doing the conversion on prommie Mach 2's.

The answer to your question being...
Slightly better.

The reason only slightly is because while its important to remove the heat from the gas to help it condense, it's also limited by how much refrigerant is actually inside the system, the tuning of the metering device (probably capillary line so its diameter and length), as well as things like ambient temperature, and capacity of the condenser coils themselves. If the capacity of the condenser with the current fan is already enough for your load, then it won't do much of anything at all.

Hope that helps.

We really need pictures of the internals...

Ya - its from Gray - the one in my profile picture. I'll post some pics later today.

Thanks for the responses!

I've been busy - so I haven't been able to go get some tools to pull off the side panel of the unit (gray used screws with a square pattern - it wont come off with an allen wrench or normal screw drivers).

For the most part - the components are close to those in the gray build in mr. frosty's reply. See the pic below (it was a pic of part of the unit earlier this year). Basically, there is another condenser at the other end of the unit.

The condenser has a fan at the front of it, and there's another exhaust fan to the side of it (on the side panel). The heat coming out of the exhaust fan is pretty high, so I'm wondering if I should replace that one.

Thanks!

Confounded Canadian inventions. Superior screw technology foils yet another person. thumb.gif You need a Robertson screwdriver, they are a quirk of Canada probably because that is where it was invented.
