so quite honestly, your temps are normal for how you are running it. thats a lot of voltage for a 212 to handle and I think your biggest enemy is the ambient temps. ~86f is not friendly for overclocking. if you just clock it at 4.4 and see how low you cant get the volts, then run with it until the weather cools off a bit (I'm assuming its summer where you are at if your pushing 90f) and turn your clocks back up later or when you are able to upgrade. you would be surprised I think at how far you can drop the volts from 4.5 to 4.4.

Drop PLL voltages, doesn't hurt to try and you will probably decrease max temp by a bit. I was overclocking when ambient was about 90F since we don't have an AC in our house. It was actually nicer to overclock this way because I knew that even next summer, I wouldn't have to worry about temps. I run RealTemp 24/7, I'm paranoid!

I totally agree on the last line. Mine is a drastic drop from 4.5ghz to 4.4ghz.

Can you tell me yours so I can get an estimate?

Thanks

O man it was so long ago I cant really remember (as in I've slept since then haha). but the drop was from 4.6 to 4.5 and it seems like it took up around 1.25+ down to around 1.20. I just remember I was really surprised.

but at 4.4 right now I'm using about 1.16 or so under a load. I'm offset clocking with llc and everything so not really sure the exact voltages under load except for what cpuz says

here is the validation snap shot under load:

PLL voltages are at the lowest (1.584). But I think I'm just going to stick to 4.4ghz.

Wow, that's really low. I'm also offset clocking with your same mobo/chip! I'm running it at -.045, LLC Level 2 and I am at 1.224/1.232 idle. However on load it goes from 1.240/1.232. You got a pretty nice chip there!

/e

So underload I'm only hitting up to 78C under Prime 95. However, I still hit up to 89 on LinX.

Also it's weird, I've tried FIXED voltages and set it to 1.200 but under CPU-Z it shows 1.272/1.280.. :/

I guess if temps are really a concern, drop the OC to 4.4 and lower voltages as much as possible. It only takes me 1.264 vcore to get 4.8 so it doesn't have that much of an impact on me.

I know! Those are crazy low volts, you've got a nice chip there mate! thumb.gif Mine requires 1.22 mad.gif

I think my chip is a bit better than I think, you mind posting your setting?

What's your CPU current capability and Phase like?

Thanks

PS- Killer chip you got there!

yea it took a lot of tinkering to get it stable, I'm pretty happy with this clock now. its around 80f in my apartment now and the phanteks keeps it around 70c with a heavy linx run. the hottest core maxed out at 72c and the rest hang at about 68ish.

I can't wait till the winter here in CO, once the weather is down around 0f in the dark of night, my computer sits right next to my sliding glass door. so the ambients should be stupid low. I want to see just what this thing will do thumb.gif
