Phantomware - Phantom 410/Asus GTX 670 Direct CU II Top

Update
I upgraded my Asus GTX 670 top with a 680 top for additional 80 bucks. The 680 is huge, but I'm liking the additional performance.

HI everyone,

I'm about to building my first Intel gaming rig. My past 2 builds were budget amd builds, so I'm excited about this. It would be awesome if I can get some feedback.
I spent about two months researching parts and attempting to get the best prices.

All the parts are ordered. I got some parts already and waiting for rest of them to get here,

Here is the part list:

Total cost for the desktop is 1283.34 with shipping/tax.

And the accessory list:

Total cost for the accessories is 449.06 444.06 with tax/shipping which makes the grand total cost 1732.40 1727.4.

It was fun for me to be hunting for the best prices. I think for the majority of the parts, I got some good prices. In particular, the open box video card and the cpu/mobo combo from Micro Center gave me huge savings. I also set up alerts on sites like slickdeals to try to get some good deals too.

I'll add pictures as soon as I start building the pc.

The cpu+mobo combo from Micro Center. Probably the first time I went out to B&M store to buy any pc parts.

This video card is huge! More like a brick than a card lol. First time with such high end gpu. This is open box, so I didn't get original box with it.

Thanks, I can't wait to start on this build. Should get everything by next week or so. I'm considering possible SLI in the future, but I'm not 100% sure if my PSU will do. I would've liked to get a 750 psu, but I just found a good deal for the seasonic x650. I read somewhere that it should be fine, but also read somewhere people recommending at least a 750 w.

SLI 670s will be fine with 650w.

That's cool. Though I probably don't need worry about it for awhile. I think the single card will last me for a long time smile.gif

I finished building the machine. However, few issues popped up.

Had some major delays with the ips panel that I ordered. I had ordered a catleap, but due to lack of supplies, I ended up getting a Shimian perfect pixel smile.gif

I ended up bending a pin in the usb 3 header. Tried to fix it, but it was impossible. Fortunately, I was able to exchange the motherboard for a new one at Micro Center. Buying parts from B&M can be really nice. 15 days passed, but they still accepted the exchange without any issues.

Next, my Asus GTX 670 Top appears to be defective. It was working fine the first day. I did some benchmark tests and tried playing some games and everything was fine. I woke up the next day and booted up my computer to see this horrible screen!

I bought this card from craigslist as open box and I took a risk in doing that I guess. I'll have to send this for RMA with Asus. I heard some horrible stories with Asus customer support. Hopefully, I will be lucky this time around and get a prompt service from them.

Here are some pictures of the machine:

Sorry, I ended up getting the Shimian qh270-lite instead because the seller that I ordered from (dream seller) didn't have catleaps in stock. I was a bit disappointed, but the shimian he offered was a perfect pixel version which he was selling for 349, so I saved about 60 bucks even there was a major delay (about 2 weeks). In addition, since I'm starting the rma for my asus gtx 670 top with Asus, it will be awhile before I can use the IPS panel. The GPU ran fine the first day though... and I was shocked with the quality of graphics combined with the gtx 670 and the ips panel. Hopefully, I don't have to wait too long; can't use the ips with the onboard video frown.gif. It would've have made the wait for rma more bearable.
