You could hold on till Vishera, they should overclock better because of power consumption, and again as people have pointed out their stock frequency will be their advantage to most average users.
FX-6100 is a good chip, but its performance really does come from overclocking it, and for that you want at least a 6+2 board, they want power.
I would wait, because if you buy the FX-6100, you'll only end up wanting the new FX range.
Provided the pricing doesn't go insane.
And also, yes its a great chip to play around with, but sadly to say it'll be risky on that board. That is the only problem with FX, you really need good VRM for it to overclock

I've had several people tell me that 4GHz should be no problem with that chip, and my motherboard. So, I'm not sure what to believe... Lol

Yes 4Ghz is usually obtainable easily. You should be able to on the board, just be careful the VRMs do not heat up a lot.

You should be able to overclock on stock voltages, anything over 4Ghz may be more difficult and more risky. But as a lot of people on here will tell you, its a risk on small VRMs

Just noticed this post, and that's funny that you upgraded from the same chip that I'm upgrading from... wink.gif
