I think the main problem is that they moved us from a desktop atmosphere right into a new ui over night. These things have to come gradually. I played with the final version for a day or two, and I can honestly say I won't be buying it, or any future versions built like Windows 8.

Plain and simple, coming from Windows all the way from 98, we have had pretty much the same ui. They threw us right into a cumbersome OS.
These developers still need to substantiate their "claims" that windows 8 will be a catastrophe for PC gaming. All claims are just based on speculations with very little evidence to back it up...

I'll be looking forward to trying the RTM in a few days time typer.gif I'll judge it whether the OS is bad or not.

Gabe is a hypocrite to whine about the openness of Windows considering the hoops we must jump through and souls we must sign over to play a game on his decrepit platform. This seems more like a way to make his continued effort for consoles games over PC games to seem like a crusade. And the Valve fan boys will believe every word just like iSheeple.

It's not. It's better for gaming than Windows 8. Benchmarks PROVE this.

Aren't there a lot of hoops you have to jump through in order to use Microsoft Windows and Office? wink.gif

screw Windows 8. I'm really thankful that there's no law that requires us to upgrade to Windows 8.

Though I disagree about Steam being a decrepit platform, I quite love it actually, I do agree GabeN's full of crap. He's just angry that there appears to be a true competitor to Steam on the Windows scene. He knew from the start Origin wouldn't have a big foothold because it's lolEA (for legitimate reasons) but Microsoft integrating a digital distribution service into Windows is a huge deal. Just about everyone who uses Windows 8 will see the apps; the Windows app store is just going to have a lot more presence than Steam, even more so since Windows 8 is a unified platform for desktops/laptops and tablets.

All this early fear mongering is an attempt to slander the competition. As for Windows 8 itself, the lack of a start button is a bit annoying but I don't really see it as a problem, so much as an annoyance. Hopefully MS will re-enable the start button and menu but it's not going to stop me from jumping ship, at least with my laptop and 2nd desktop, though my main rig is still going to ride it out with 7
