Need Advise and Help

hi guys

guys i have problem i think cant get my head around because it my first time water cooling and wasn't sure about inlets and outlets barbs measurements on the pump and if i need more then one pump, dual pump because i dont know if the d5 is strong enough may have some restriction in that loop i l explain further of what im trying to achieve in my project.

brain storming

basically i have the cosmos2 i m going to put 360 rad at top and 2 dual rads at bottom.

the motherboard is going to be the Asus formula thuderfx the one with 2 barbs for the mosfit.

the ek res 150 is going to sit on the left side of the illuminated acrylic which is going to have water channel in the mid plate it self.

the res is going to have feed on top it

the outlet is going to go through the acrylic water channel and exits into the d5 pump and then in to the first rad and back in the second rad and then straight up to the 360 at the top inlet back out the outlet in the inlet mosfit (top of cpu end) and then out of outlet of mosetfit into the cpu out of the cpu into the gpu and back to res.

in between the rad two rads there is to be drain loop.

so my question are ,is the pump in the wright place, should i i go from res to pump or am i ok to go from res to rad then pump,is it going to be strong enough or do i need to add another pump somewhere in the loop or shall do dual loop.

if you dont understand or something is clear please let me know icould provide more information.

at moment all i have is the case im just brain storming , researching planning on getting the asus formula mobo so i can see how much space i have and can play with the top rad.

i look forward to your advise my whole case modding is on hold because i need to make the wright cuts and mods before i paint he case.

As I read you, you'll have three rads for just a CPU/Mobo loop? That sounds a bit overkill to me. I'd drop one of the 240 rads, but to each his own. With all of that you will be pushing the one pump envelope. One D5 can do two rads easy though.

i will be water cooling the cpu , mosfit, dual gpu , but i wasn't sure if the d5 was powerful to to move water because its single loop they may be lots of restriction i think plus the fact the water is going through the acrylic midplate it self.

so i was thinking is the pump goign to push the water through the lop without any problems or shall i had second pump in the loop and and if so which two shall iuse and in what setup?

plz guys really need some advise from you

1. Some have gone from rad to pump if the radiator is directly above the pump. But nearly all the time, you will fill your pump easier and bleed air better to go from reservoir to pump. I would have to recommend reservoir to pump in this complicated loop.
2. The D5 variable at maximum setting will likely be strong enough if restriction is low. Do you have a D5 vario? You can always add a second D5 to the loop if needed. I have twin D5's that work fine. Martinm210 has a spreadsheet that helps with flow. You can plug in various items including different brands of rads or pumps and see what your flow is. You want around 1 gpm or 4 lpm.
3. Don't think you need a dual loop. You won't likely have heat issues. It is mostly how to hook up the plumbing with what.

If you link to the parts you are considering, it would help. For example, we would know if you are choosing the D5 vario or the B pump, look up restrictions of your components to gauge flow rates, etc. Good luck. smile.gif

In a loop such as this, an MCP35X may be the better pump due to its pressure and the amount of components in your loop. It is also smaller, if that is of any benefit to you. Also, it is best for the res to be directly prior to the pump, it's like the only "hard rule" of water cooling, one that you don't want to break on your first setup.

thanks guys i m going to run it from res to pump, but im not sure on the pump to use, whether to use one or dual pump not dual loop sorry.

you see im at the mom modding the cooler master cosmos 2 case itself dont know exactly where to put fill port cut, outs etc until i get approval of the water cooling setup.

at mom cant afford to buy the parts now im just brain storming my idea to get an approval once i know what water cooling pump to get , rads and loop setup is going to be , all i have is the case and cpu 17 iy.

im new water cooling i dont understand high ,low restriction, pressure, flow rate ,calculation, headroom etc

basically im having the res on top of the acrylic midplate left side, the Ek Res, the res is going have fill port on top, one inlet nad 1 outlet and drain port.

the drain port is goign into the acrylic midlpate and water is goin gto flow from the res across the acrylic midplate and then exit at the end wit some fitting in to the pump, from the pump through both 240 rads in the bottom up the 360 in the top and them from there to moset inlet , outlet in the cpu and for now 1 gpu later ill will had another gpu back in the res.

recommendation
so what pump shall i get and shall i buy 1 or 2 pumps, how shall set them up if its two pumps, what rads shall use , fans that im going to use are the corsair sp 120.

piping

the asus maximums formula mosfiet barbs take 3/8 pipes is tht the i/d or o/d die mention and do i have use tht pipe throughout the loop.

go with the one pump, but put together your loop first outside of your computer as a leak test. >you then could put a small dye in the water (if you can see through the tubing enough) to mesure how long it takes to mix/get from one end to the other. That can give you an idea. And if it seems too slow of a flow buy another pump.

(the dye was the first idea of the top of my head. idk if anyones ever done that...)

good idea but its going to be tricky to with mid plate acrylic what pump shall i buy and what pump top also could recommend some high flow blokes for the cpu 17 3770k iy and a 360 rad and 2 240 rads. money is no concern i just want to get the best.

go with a Swiftech MCP655 B pump. they have really good reviews and are pretty tough. Quiet too! Snag one of those and do a leak test.

heres a good link
