Fast 500gb-1tb drive?

I currently have a samsung f3 500gb as a storage drive to my crucial M4 64gb drive.

I need more space because I enjoy recording game footage, I have a hard time understanding what makes a mechanical drive faster than other when I bought this samsung I just got it because it was recommended literally everywhere. Is this still the same deal? Are they really good price/performance still? +rep to any help. Would prefer it to be under $120

Yes, the newer SATA II 7200RPM drives are much faster than the original ones. What choice do you have though? None of them are pushing the limits on the interface, so if you have good results with that drive, then I'd go for it again.

You could buy an external usb3 drive for pure storage and alleviate your storage squeeze. They're on sale alot and readily available.
To kinda further what losttsol said if you could get another f3 you could raid them for more speed, but you will have to reformat. And i agree that mechanical drives have pretty much reached their limits.

would a external usb 3 be faster Dafirnz? I like the idea of a external because I don't always need the third drive i would get, and I could keep stuff on it to bring to my friends pc's.

Well it would be faster than usb 2.0. What i was trying to say is to use an external drive as an archive. Assuming you don't always need to access all of your videos.
If you're taking it to your friends you'd probably be better off getting a 32gb flash drive to avoid a drop, smash, failure.
Save and edit you videos on the pc drive then after you edit them or upload them just drop them onto the external for storage. If you do load them onto a flash drive or other source to take them somewhere you might notice a small lag but I can't see it being big enough to sweat over.

i just recently brought a WD caviar black 2Tb and its an awesome HDD plenty fast, the only downfall is its much noiser than my old barracuda that was only a 250 Gb tho... i think its common for high capacity/density drives to be a bit louder

Get a WD black of any capacity, they're fast but a bit noisy. I stopped buying samsung after they were bought by seagate tongue.gif
