I may get a phase change cooler, and am on a $600 budget, for cooler alone.I will probobly go to 1.9 volts, maybe 2.0 volts. So, what would that draw on a piledriver chip?My esstimate is 350W to 450W, that takes A LOT of cooling.I was looking at DismasTech's stuff.

€ 560.91 = 689.53 U.S. dollars
not including shipping.... so be prepared
on a 600.00 budget it can be tough... there are some out there... and if piledriver is like bulldozer and you wanna overclock it like mad.... you're gonna need to double your 600.00 budget or get Liquid Nitrogen...

I think people overate temps, saying people will need LN2 for 1.9V. I am pretty sure a Dice or Phase change unit will be just fine. So, can anybody reccomend a unit? I will probobly go with Dice, its a lot cheaper, and just as cool, if not cooler.

If you care about the cpu you do want colder for those voltages. Single stage is fine for low load (& for benching anytime, little prep & setup required), DICE would be more suitable for heavier load.

I limit myself to 1.7v on phenom chips and 1.6v on SB/IVY. A good Single stage unit tuned for 300w + will hold these chips to -38 to -44c.
Single stage, as you said, is so convenient for benching!
Next step for me is a nice cascade unit!

As I said in your other thread
Quote:
You can chose to not believe it all you want, but it doesn't change facts. I can chose to believe I have ten million dollars, but that doesn't make me a millionaire stability comes from it being cold. Also, cold stops the high volts from kill the chip. Stability and cold go together.

Unless you are talking about old chips, like socket A and older, 1.9v can and will kill modern chips if you only use DICE or a single stage. At 1.82v on DICE, this BD chip was hard to keep temps down http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2050382, and that was just running at idle and only 1 full module active. And even if you have a cascade, you probably couldn't run any benches with 1.9v.
