Hello OCN!
After months of contemplation, I have decided to go with a true water cooling solution in my moderately overclocked rig. I pulled the trigger on the 10th and ordered a number of water cooling items with the goal of achieving acceptable temps on my Intel i5 2500k and Sapphire HD 7970 OC inside a Corsair 500r. The 2500k is overclocked to 4.3ghz at 1.280 volts while the 7970 is overclocked to 1200/1600 at 1.262 vcore. My current average temps on the current coolers with the 2500k are low 50c in BF3 while the 7970 hits about 76c in that game. The CPU currently has a Corsair H60 cooler and the GPU is using the Sapphire Dual X cooler. Though I know that those temps are quite acceptable, I was hoping to lower the GPU another 15 degrees or so while keeping it relatively quiet.
Water Cooling items ordered
Originally I was going to order another XSPC EX120 rad to accompany the EX240 that came with the kit, but decided to wait and see if my temps would be acceptable with just an ex240 rad and Scythe AP-15's in pull. Also, I wanted to ask if yall would suggest I add a fill and a drain port to make life easier.
I just wanted to express my excitement and ask for any tips the water cooling veterans at OCN have for a W/C noob like me.
Pics of the conversion will be posted when I receive my items.
