Your'e CPU isn't the problem at all. Its fine overclocked. From the problem you're suggesting its definitely your GPU. Can you increase volts on the GPU? If so do that by a notch and see. If it still happens, use a software like MSI afterburner to underclock it by 100-200mhz while bumping the vcore up a bit. Then check with games.

Never mind it just crashed again with the same striped pattern going across the screen. I don't think it's the graphics card though because this is a new one, and I doubt it's going to break that quickly :/

If its factory overclocked, it can. My brother's GTX580 did the same thing. We bumped up the voltage and its running perfect.

No harm in trying smile.gif

The computer still continues to crash when playing games on the computer.

I have tried playing games on a completely different hard drive and the computer will still crash when playing games. I have ran a stress test on the CPU and through out the test it never crashed once, I have also run a memory diagnostics on the RAM and that came out with no errors as well.

Is it a possibility that the graphics card might be broken? It is now 1 month old so it is still very new, and I haven't tried overclocking it at all, I thought I may try adjusting the volts but with this graphics card the voltages are locked and you cannot change them. Has anyone got anymore suggestions?

First of all, get OpenHardwareMonitor and GPU-z. Start gpu-z and play a game for 5 mins, then check the temps on gpu-z. Both core and vrm temps. When you mouseover the graph it shows the temp at that point. So be sure it doesn't overheat. Also check the 12v voltage on gpu-z.

Second, go to Catalyst Control Center > Overdrive. Enable overdrive and reduce core clock from 975 to 900 and try gaming. If it doesn't crash then you know 975mhz needs a bit more voltage. You can either try 925mhz, 950mhz whichever is stable or try giving a bit more voltage with a utility called sapphire trixx or msi afterburner

Things are seeming to point to the GPU. And yes it it possible for something NEW to be broken.

Wise man once said....if its man made then its meant to break...just a matter of time.thumb.gif

Is it grey vertical stripes? That would definitely indicate GPU.

I think you should do what schmooty said, "fresh install of drivers” He said video card communication drivers not reformat. Start with the most obvious. Make sure the older versions are completely uninstalled.
