Id say it was your resolution being so low but you said it lowered frame rate as usage lowered. Data not loading fast enough.

My resolution being slow? I didn't understand, I play at 1920x1080p...

Not loading fast? Maybe my HDD? Don't think so...

but image said 1000mhz + and 670 GTX arent usually at these speeds, disable boost from nvidia panel...

http://cdn.overclock.net/c/cc/ccbfbe76_catay.jpeg

other thing see from GPUz which si the width PCIE bus in that SLI

also apply high res patch for crysis 2 and compare

I did a bench with my rig between 2 resolutions

maybe 670 GTX SLi is overkill for 1080p

There is no law in computing that states more cores = more performance, you should read up on Amdahl's Law thumb.gif
IIRC Crysis 2 will cap out at four cores, you can't substitute Instructions per core per second with more cores if the software you're running is incapable of a speedup greater than 4x, I have no problem believing an overclocked Sandy Bridge will bottleneck 2x 670/680 SLI or a 690 at 1920x1080 in Crysis 2.

They are at stock clocks, those 1000Mhz are the GPU boost, I didn't OCed both of them.

Here a screenshot from GPU-Z, aparentely both are running at 8x PCIEX, is this normal?

I haven't seen a single 670 not boosting past 1000MHz at "stock" tongue.gif
Kepler Boost can't be disabled.
No solution is overkill if it can't provide the framerate you're aiming for, 2x 670 for 120Hz monitor is not overkill, but you will need a beast of a CPU to achieve that. A quad-core Sandy Bridge at 6.5-7.0 GHz should be pretty close for most games thumb.gif
