[Build Log] d3vour3r's watercooled Antec 1100 - Page 12

post #111 of 140
Haven't done any measurements though haha.

That said, I think your top mount solution would be great, could fit a 2x140 instead of a 2x120, and exhausting out of the case I'm sure would be better for case temps

Hey guys! Thanks for this thread, glad to see it is gaining some members. When I began my build a month ago the thread was still pretty sparse and full of questions that I had myself (but not too many answers! lol) I was REALLY tempted to pioneer the Phobya eXtreme 200mm rad, but I didn't want to deal with the headaches of fitment, plus I wanted to be sure everything was going to fit INSIDE the case.

I really think Antec hit it out of the part on this design for a couple of reasons, the case looks great, tons of great fan placements, and it has excellent air flow through. However, I don't think it is ideal for water cooling applications, but for those of us where that was an after thought, we're making it work aren't we?

So I went with a single RX120, I used the XSPC single bay drive (because I wanted to preserve the other two for disc & card reader), nice monsoon fittings, and the Swiftec Apogee Drive II pump/block combo. It went in to make a very clean, slick system that performed decently well, although it left a lot to desire. I finally reconfigured and purchased some different fans to set up in push/pull config with high CFM and that really boosted performance of this 120 rad setup (CPU only btw). With my current set up I'm bearly breaking 60*c (IB 3570K @ 4.4ghz after 1 hour Prime95) and I hardly break 56*c during typical operation (games, itunes, browsing, etc.

)

I got trolled hard when seeking ideas for this install, and people we saying things (in regard to using a single 120 rad) like, "you might as well just buy a worthless H60." But alas my new w/c system is performing 10*c cooler than my H50 was getting me at the same specs, so to the nay sayers bruce.gif However, what that startup system did get me (in addition to better cooling performance) was expandability, thus when one finds a random $35 dollars in his PayPal account, and reasons a mere 45 more will buy him the rest of the components one needs for a EX240 rad add on (went for a multiport, got Monsoon fittings and plugs) one must abide by dead recokoning that this is going to be kick ass! That stuff shipped today! Pix to follow!

looking good mate, the extra 240 rad will make a good difference. just need some blocks for your gpus now. neaten up those vga cables a bit too and itll look even better smile.gif zip ties!!! good thing about these cases are the cable space behind the mobo tray.

Thanks man! Yah these cables are a disaster behind that mobo tray! I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow for zip ties.

IDK if 360mm of rad can handle 400watts of GPU power! What do you guys think?

my orignal set up was a rx120 and ex240 and i ran my CPU and 7970 at reasonable temps. the general rule for rad size is 120 x (no. blocks + 1), but im sure youll still get good results, better then air thats for sure. otherwise check out what i did with the 280mm rad top mod wink.gif or squeeze in another rx120 in the HDD space.

Yah I saw that, really sick mod. I would do exact the same, except my desk won't let me build the case any higher! Putting another 120 in that HDD bay might be a thought, with the ex on the otherside there tho i'm already significantly reducing the best cold air intake I have for the system. I really believe strongly in the through flow design that Antec has done here with the 1100. After all, all components need some cooling. I will just end up waiting until I go to a single GPU (gtx 690 probably) and cool the GPU then!

Looks wicked dude. Just be careful with that 690 and the space between it and the 240 rad. as u can see in mine its a tight squeeze with my 7970s.

Yah I was thinking about sandwiching that 240 between some 20mm thick yate loons and dremeling off those tabs that hold the the fans to the hdd cage and then securing it with screws instead

Yeh hopefuly that should give u more room. just take heaps of measurements and plan ahead. those bits on the cage for the fans are annoying ay haha.
