Wow, I didnt realize they were that little. I just checked ebay and they're only selling for $40. For that price I might as well hang onto them. Always nice to have a spare HDD around.

Thanks all!

Yeah, unless really hard up for a little cash you might as well hang onto them. Never know when they might just come in handy.

Are they not much better than 7.2kRPM drives or something? Or is it that SSDs have kind of killed their reason for being?

PS: I'm asking because I'm shocked at the low price too.

older (2008 i think models) as people would buy newer drives.. SSD's prices nowadays might have something to do with it too smile.gif

They're better at sequential reads/writes than 7200rpm, but not much better at random read/write. Even a first gen SSD will slaughter these drives in random read/write.

I remember I had two 150gb Raptors in Raid 0 back in 2007... Great back then... not so much anymore.

No problem, Im as surprised as you are, but there have been some good points made, 128gb SSDs can be had for cheap now, and are much faster than traditional drives. Couple age, with the disk technology used, and the options available right now... Yeah, $40 actually makes sense. On the other hand, given the performance of the drive as it stands, you can get quite a great piece of tech for $40! (someone can, Im not selling mine smile.gif)
