I just got NVIDIA surround with 3 30 inch monitors was just wondering if anyone else has this setup and had a preference on landscape or portrait mode. Wanted to see what everybody likes more between the 2? And some pros and cons of both...thanks!

Landscape if you don't mind having to turn your head to see the edges of the screens (depending on your view distance), and portrait if you don't mind a lot of bezel.

You can't even run 3 monitors on an Nvidia card at that kind of resolution though? confused.gif

Last I checked, they were stuck to 1920x1200 as the highest supported resolution for 3 monitor surround.

I believe you can, as Vega had 680's running some ungodly high portrait resolution.

@OP: You will definately need a more than 1 GTX680 mate to run that resolution and likely the 4GB version as you will experience VRAM limitations that high.

Here under 2nd tab called supported surround display modes and resolutions.

Says Landscape 7860X1600 and Portrait 4800X2560 thumb.gif

@op I honestly would do portrait the amount of head turning you have to do with a landscape 30 inch setup can be killer on your neck its like 60+ inches across.
Portrait setup is right around a 2:1 ratio which seems ideal to me...

Actually, the width of the setup is almost irrelevant to the amount of head turning. Games usually scale with a fixed vertical FOV, meaning that simply wider setups (landscape eyefinity/surround) will still display the same image on the center monitor that would be displayed on a single monitor setup: a small and easily viewed image, leaving the side monitors for peripheral viewing that you don't need to directly view at all. On a portrait setup, the vertical element is much larger, scaling the image up to a much larger size, to the point where you actually do need to turn your head (if you can't turn your in game view) to see to the corners of the setup, since we are discussing 30" monitors. What would have been the image on a single monitor setup now is enlargened and covers the majority of your portrait setup, making for some much more awkward head turning than a landscape setup would ever need. Most games don't support higher FOVs that would alleviate this situation, so you need to actually sit further away from the setup if you want to keep head turning from being a necessity.
