Lessons to be Learnt

Thread Starter
So I just bought myself a Japanese 3DS LL and thought I could enjoy my new SMB2 tonight. I tried to recharge the console, the orange light that indicates charging goes out. Then I thought, "OK, maybe it's fully charged now". So I powered it on, the console didn't do anything. I even borrowed my friend's 3DS charger and the same problem occurs: the orange light goes out after 5 seconds.

After exhausting all sorts of avenues, I had no choice but to open up the back case of the console. My initial idea was to re-position the battery in the compartment and retry the whole charging process. Guess what I've found?
This really pisses me off! (Click to show)
A0P6zM-CEAAMSbk.jpg:large

There was no battery in it! How could they miss on the batter is beyond me.

Lessons to be learnt:
- Stick to my PS Vita
- Never import overseas console (unless you want to play import games)

Wow that really sucks, I would be pretty upset too. If you bought it online maybe you can contact the store to get them to ship you another battery?

Just found out why the battery went missing.

The seller is based in Japan. The retailer argued that they are not allowed to ship out Lithium-ion battery out of Japan, so they removed the battery prior to shipping it out.

dQ0Sc.gif

Another lesson to be learnt: When importing gadgets from overseas, make sure they can ship out the lithium-ion battery to you!

This is embarrassing for me bashing Nintendo without further investigation. There's nothing to be blamed on Nintendo, my bad on that one, so I changed the title of the thread tongue.gif

I will fix this problem now and keep you guys posted.

Nope, tried that to no avail. The new battery for 3DS XL/LL is not even out in the market yet.

After much tinkering with batteries, I've come up with this solution:

DSH8v.jpg

I bought a 3rd party standard 3DS battery and plug it into the battery compartment, with a folded piece of paper to hold the battery in place. tongue.gif

Another lesson to be learnt: When there's a will, there's a way. biggrin.gif

Replace that paper because it will lose its tension and you will most likely burn the battery and maybe short out the 3ds. I would go purchase a 50c eraser ( since rubber doesn't conduct electricity ) and cut it down to size but a tad bit bigger so that it puts some pressure against the battery to keep it intact.
