LOL at first I was wondering about the same thing. They are going to use to mainly entertainment, such as streaming internet T.Vs and movies on pplive and ppstream. They are doing it on a 42 inch 1080p HD flat screen. So that just jumped the price of the graphic cards a whole lot. A single 550 ti is the lowest I can go.

Last time I checked, it is the most popular and bought cpu of all the cpus? I got the idea from watching all the expert reviews and builts on youtube channels such as testedcom, 3DGAMEMAN, NCIXCOM ect. ect.

The difference between i5 and i7 is hyperthreading. None of your computer uses require more then 4 cores/4threads. Your parents build is way overkill. Could save a lot of money and make yours even better. Or just save period. You don't need an i7. The i5 2500k will easily run 5+ applications at the same time and a bzillion tabs on your web browser. Go ahead and get an overkill cpu and 2 crappy gpu's. Just don't complain when you are unsatisfied.

*edit* lol just noticed this. Definitely a troll. He had us all

GPU: Asus DC Top 550 Ti
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155 - BX80637I53570K
motherboard: ASUS Intel Z77 ATX DDR3 2400 LGA 1155 Motherboard P8Z77-V PRO
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast TX V2 Series 650-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified High Performance Modular Power Supply CP-9020002-NA
CPU Watercooling: Antec Kuhler H2O 620 Liquid CPU Cooler System - Antec
Case: Cooler Master Storm Trooper Gaming Full Tower Computer Case with Carrying Handle (SGC-5000-KKN1) -
Ram: Corsair Vengence 8gb (2x4)
Asus 24xDVD-RW Serial ATA Internal OEM Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black)
Western Digital Cavair Sata III
Total: $1035
My parents really want this to be a budget one, but I wanted to make it a bit future proof. Any suggestions? I'm very much into Asus motherboards right now, but maybe a EVGA one with 4 pci express slots z68?
Regarding the Case, omg I just love the new case. Check it out. http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/chassis/Trooper/
Now I know I can save money on the case by getting a mid-tower but I want a full-tower just to be flexible in terms of watercooling and airflow.

1400 bucks and a 550ti build? has to be the worst 1400 dollars spent I have ever seen.

I would applaud you for your efforts of asking for help and doing the research but you did it all wrong. I'm sorry you went and purchased that before asking the community what we thought. Please don't do the same for your parents build - you are wasting their money.

just using the $100 saved from that, you could have got a GTX 570 which will do you much better than SLI 550Ti. it also comes with less power draw than 2 cards, again saving you money and opening up for more choices for a more suitable PSU.
try to take everything everyone is telling you as a lesson instead of negativity. grow and learn from this and when the time comes to build your next system, maybe build it for your self and give what you currently have to the parents. thumb.gif

Oh wait, I'm sorry if I might of mislead some of you to thinking it's ONLY for multitasking and home works. Obviously I play BF3, sometimes WOW (but its dying really), Modern Warfare 3, ect ect.

I am still new to this, so the very limited trust I have for the psu comes from web based MAINLY YOUTUBE reviews.

No games require or use more then 4 cores so hyperthreading is not necessary. It is a waste of 100+ dollars. It's like buying a fricking mini van 8 seater van to drive yourself around in.

again, while gaming you will not notice a difference between the 2500k and 2600k. the hyper threading will not help you for games
