I still have no freaking clue what would compel those fools in Blizzard's top brass to tag Jay Wilson as game director. That incompetent idiot had no part at all in the legacy that was Diablo. Yeah, lets hire a person who has no idea what the franchise is about to be the lead on just the most highly anticipated game of the year. They would have been much better off pegging Wyatt Cheng instead. He was part of Blizzard North and I don't think there could have been any way he would have effed up D3 as badly as Jay Wilson has. I hope never finds another project again after this and just stay unemployed forever. Yes I am being very bitter and probably overreactive about wanting a guy fired over a video game, but that's how deep my contempt and hatred runs for that chump and his dev team ilk right now.

I know exactly what you are talking about, but inferno is not fun and never was fun. It was not diablo. The problem was not class balance because diablo's focus has never been about balance. It's the fact you felt like a weakling trying to zerg down things before they killed you. You are suppose to feel overpowered when you have good gear regardless of difficulty. Even with Act 3-4 Inferno gear, there was still stuff in Act 1-2 that could pretty much one shot you in 1.0. It made farming useless, because no matter what you were a weakling that needed to zerg to win. It's better now with 1.0.3, but even with the best gear you still can't casually kill stuff in Act 4 Inferno. This is completely opposite of D2, people enjoyed being able to overpower everything in the game if they spent enough time on a character.

The guy admitted that he never played D1/D2 until he started working on D3. I agree... they could of hired any D2 fan off of the streets and done a better job. tongue.gif

Then when I said don't judge a game on a demo/beta it will never be like the full product you chewed me a new one and raged and said its going to be amazing.

Most of us in the official D3 discussion thread were banking on it being an amazing game.

All signs pointed to it being so, and the beta was all we had to judge the game on.

I still think if there was never an AH, the game would be thriving to this day.

Based on the beta, the game WAS looking to be amazing. Unfortunately, we put too much faith in Blizzard, and assumed they actually had a master plan for only letting us test a tiny part of the final game. We were VERY wrong, evidently.

Still no PvP? LMAO!

I have been a top notch Diablo fan all my life (own all the original games, action figures, books, posters, you name it) and as far as I'm concerned, Diablo 3 shares the franchise name, and nothing else. It doesn't come remotely close to being a successor to Diablo II. Also, while I'm on this roll, I've entirely washed my hands with Blizzard and their insane greed. See you guys in Guild Wars 2?

Beta was only normal difficulty, and I had a blast with it. Nothing like Inferno, I don't think anyone expected them to make inferno so... crappy. It's like a completely different game. If Inferno played like normal after you had the best gear in the game, I feel the game would of been great. It was just a completely untested mess, way worse than I ever imagined a multi-million dollar Blizzard game being after so much development time.

I remember Jay saying in one of his interviews "My number one goal is to make you feel extremely overpowered, and the ability to just blow demons away". Inferno was the exact opposite of that even with the best gear. All I will say is... I had much more respect for blizzard before D3 than I do now. 1.0.4 may bring the game closer to how "we visioned it", but my interest is focused on other games now. I'll probably give it another go when an expansion comes out in 2 years.
