Try different ways. I tried two.

As per instructions: Fan blowing in to case - idle 28, load 46
Other Suggested Way: Fan blowing out of case (towards exhaust) - idle 32, load 52

It defies overclocking logic to have it fighting the exhaust fan but it yielded better results and I'm all about better results (like everybody )

It's not always the best to pull it all in one direction. The air that comes from inside the case out the back is already warmed up. (HDD, RAM, etc.) If you did face it into the case, it might have pushed cooler air from somewhere then your bottom case fan pushed it back to where the PCI cards are and then sucked the hot air out of the back.

You might have made a nice wind tunnel in your computer case.

I may well have done

Its just a case of tinkering. It dosen't take long to refit a heatsink so fit it one way, check your temps then try another way. One way is garunteed to be better than the other

Yes, but if your using AS5 make sure if you do get a little better temp.'s you leave it burn in long enough. I'm sure your already know this, but AS5 works better after it burns in a little. Someone told me like 100 hours of running to get the better temp.'s. (I would suggest doing maybe a 24 hours then letting it sit, another 24 hours, and letting it sit etc.)

True

Mine seem to be settling in the 27-28c region for idle and 46-47 for load. They should drop 1 maybe 2c over the next few weeks....that would be nice

Hey joe nice results, Im curious though what are your ambient temps in your house. I just ordered mine and am curious as to what I can expect. And the fact that your fan is blowing the other way is really puzzling.

Thanks if you don't mind posting this.

You know on a gig overclock 46c load isn't that bad, its exactly what I get. 2.4-->3.4, 46c load at F@H. Lucky guy got his hands on a Tuniq AND a Rev B2

Its about 13c outside today, my room is probably in the 18-20c region i'm guessing.

Last night I had this chip at 4.0Ghz using 1.6v (1.52 after droop) and it idled at 35c, load temps were 55-57c with orthos for 35 minutes.
