Hello everyone, first off im new to the overclock.net forums so hi to all of you smile.gif.

As you can probably read from the title, I need some suggestions.
I cannot try out any keyswitches because theres no where near to test them.
So I would like your opinion on this currently i have a keyboard with cherry mx blacks which i dont find unpleasant but id rather have a Filco.

So i would like to know how close is the red keyswitch to the black ( i have a 6gv2 now incase your wondering).
And id like to know how noticeable the tactile click is, will is bug me when im playing wasd heavy games?
Like driving cars and walking around first person, will it clamp so its hard to release and click again? (which i found with the cherry mx blues)

Thanks in advance for the feedback, and sorry if the post feels a bit rambly ^_^ i dont post in forums often.

MX Reds do not have a tactile click, but as for comparison to blacks, when I went from my Blacks to Reds I didn't really notice a difference, just a little bit less force to activate the keys.

browns are slightly lighter than blues, but yeah, I'd definitely recommend reds for driving games and shooters

browns can be good for RTS/moba/RPG, but otherwise I can't help but feel as though linear switches are superior for gaming in general

this is just my opinion but that opinion based on my experience with the particular switches would be as follows: blues for typing, browns for typing first, gaming second, reds for gaming first typing second, blacks for gaming

ok so what your saying is, that you can defenitely feel the bump in the brown switch, because ive heard alot of people say that it nearly feels linear.

i think it would be annoying when your walking around in a game or something that you constantly go over the bump, atleast thats what i found with the mx blues.
if the browns arent that bothersome in games where you use your wasd alot i would get them.
otherwise id probably get reds or maybe even blacks again.

If you have tried blues, then the browns are similar to those, but without the final click sound. You can feel the click though with them.

Red's are the same as blacks, but lighter. They are generally recommended as the best gaming key, since they require so little force to press them.

Both browns and reds are ok though, but it sounds like you might want the reds. What is wrong with your current keyboard and what brand/ model is it?

Theres not alot wrong with the 6gv2, its build really solidly, but i really want to try out a Filco.

Another reason for this is im not comfortable typing with the 6gv2 because it doesnt have a superstandard layout, and after a year of use i still beep hitting the | instead of the ? wink.gif


And if im getting a new keyboard im not gonna get the same keyswitches thats why i want to know how the reds and browns feel, alot of people say the browns are almost linear unless ur really search for the bump.

I think both arent horrible tho, but thats ofcourse why the dicision is so hard, and its not a small fee to pay ^_^.

Does anyone have a cherry mx brown keyboard?

Does the bump bother alot while trying to play games that require WASD like bf3?

The tactile bump is noticeable, but not obtrusive at all. It just feels like a light crunch or bit of friction while you're typing. If you press keys slowly the bump feels a bit more defined.

I love it for all kinds of gaming, and have never ever felt like the tactility is a bad thing.

I have a das with blues and I got to have that little tactile bump. I don't notice their clickly sound when I game. I love the way the blues feel.
