Dual display setup

Thread Starter
Ive never had more than 1 monitor setup before.

When I got my catleap, I took my 27" TN and brought it to work, and took my 22" LG home to be my 2nd display for home.

After hooking everything up, and trying to set things up it just isnt working as intended.

What I would ideally like is to use the Catleap as my main display to game on, and use the 2nd monitor off to the side to web browse/etc while playing games on the main monitor.

Basically I have a zoomed in version of my Catleap desktop on the 22", and no web browsers or other apps open up on the 2nd monitor.

How do I set up these 2 monitors to work in the way which I would like?

Additionally, after I added the 2nd monitor, I can only recognize my Catleap as "generic PnP monitor" even after reinstalling the drivers. I also cannot see my task bar on monitor #2.

I am however still getting 120 hz in game on the Catleap. I opened up a game with fraps and vert sync enabled, and its at 120.

Another weirdo thing.....

When I reboot my computer, the 2ndary monitor shows the POST screen with the primary monitor being black screen, then when it boots to windows it switches to primary monitor having primary use.

Basically so far the only thing I can do with this 2nd monitor is look at the pretty wallpaper I have while Im doing something else.

This cant be rite...rofl....

Any help appreciated TY

You should have them set up like this in the resolution menu-

The task bar will only show up on your main monitor unless you use a program like Ultramon. Windows doesn't do it on its own.

The post screen shows up on whichever monitor is in the primary port on your video card. Once the video drivers load, Windows identifies which monitor you've set as the primary one.

OK so looks like I need to switch which monitor will go to which DVI port and that will solve the POST on the 2ndary monitor.

But...Im still not getting the 2nd monitor usage. Unless I have it set up improperly it seems useless. I set it up in that display/resolution area as you have shown.

All I can do is view my wallpaper and use it as a space to hold desktop icons?

I cant browse the web on 1 monitor while I play a game on another?

Thanks in advance and appreciate the input so far.

You sure can browse on 1 and game on the other. Your game has to be in windowed mode though, or otherwise, it's just like minimizing the game. You can game and watch a movie/show, you can browse the web and watch a movie/show, you can do work more efficiently. At school, I often have an excel spreadsheet, a paper, and a couple articles I'm citing up all at the same time.

Ya, something isnt set up properly then.

All i have on screen #2 is a desktop wallpaper, and space to place icons.

How do you get your web browser or anything else to show up on monitor #2?

Just grab the title bar and slide it over to the other browser

Set wallpaper to - Tile - and one picture will be across both screens

Control Panel - Appearance - Display - Screen Resolution
SET - Multiple displays to --Extend these displays

The Task bar will only be on screen ONE - Thats the way MicroSoft set it up to be

You can make the LEFT or RIGHT ,, screen ONE in control panel

"generic PnP monitor"
Is what the Nvidia Control Panel sees - No Big Deal

You will be able to slide any window to either screen that you want
