Overclocking a X2 4200

Thread Starter 
This is my first time overclocking, so I decided to have some help. My cpu idles at bout 30 C. Ive never tested what is was at load. Thanks!!

The full load temp is very important!
Always check it as you up the CPUs voltage so you don't cook that CPU!

I think there is a utility on the Asus CD.
A good referance, the BIOS temp, if accurate, is 80% of the full load temp.

K, the bios temp is 37. I think it hit 46 though with sandra pushing it, which is uncomforting

Or, run 2 instances of Prime95 (there are many guides on Google on how to simultaneously run 2 instanes of Prime side by side, 1 per core). That is your MAXIMUM temp your CPU will ever hit under current settings.

46 isn't bad, if you start seeing number above 50 you neeed to start worrying.

Your stock vcore for an AM2 should be around 1.3 v-ish, not 100% sure.
