Motherboard for Overclocking and Gaming

Hey all,

Since I have decided to invest in buying a custom water cooling system, see here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1292069/looking-to-water-cool-require-advice-tips-and-suggestions-please (mind you It's still being modified, however it will be expensive, $700 - 800 range), I am thinking more about buying a motherboard which will really make use of this cooling system. I am slightly unsure, so any advice would be great, there is no budget on this, however lower is always better, and I just want to achieve a very high (5Ghz +) yet stable overclock using the water cooling system I shall purchase later.

A few I was looking at included:
- EVGA Z77 FTW Motherboard
- ASUS Maximus V Extreme Motherboard

Much appreciated - davio

This will do the trick for overclocking and gaming. Just make sure what ever cooling you use will fit socket 1155. No need to WC the motherboard.

EVGA Z77 FTW Motherboard is a nice board.
And so is Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5.

Those two boards have the best VRM (IR3500 mosefts rated 60A each) on the market.

On the other hand, ROG boards have better BIOS optimizations that can help to achieve better OC on LN2.

Still, 5Ghz on 3570K is almost impossible (there are rare few lucky people with "golden" chip) on any board since it hits high temps fast even under water. You won't need these board to achieve 5Ghz either.
