I cannot sympathize with that.

Would you spend 700 dollars on something you would never use properly?

as cool as the term phase change is I think I'll try water cooling first, besides, I want to take my older athlon (sitting doing nothing) and make a mineral oil fish tank as a fun project. That would be more interesting and less risky to me than an air conditioner

oh which makes me wonder....if the air passing through water from a bubble wand is cooler than ambient temp....I might have to try and find out from my fish tank...

anyways I am happy with my parts but would like to look into water cooling, what kind of pump, radiator, resevoir etc would you all recommend? and what coolant liquid would you recommend?

also how difficult is it to set up?

PS my tower has predrilled holes for this

I haven't water-cooled, never saw much point. Unless perhaps you cool the GPU as well. Can 690s be watercooled? But I do know two things: always use distilled water with some sort of algae-kill & don't miss this sticky thread from the water-cooling forum on this website:

well to cool your cpu, and gpu, id go for about a 480rad, doesnt have to be the 4x120mm rad, you can have a 360+120, or 240+240, etc, it all depends on the layout of your case and were you can store stuff, and as far the pump/res go, you can get a dual bay res with pump, and then all you need is fans and blocks

for a beginner i would just use distilled water and a silver kill coil (used to kill algae and etc)

like i said before if your going to be watercooling right away grab the hydrocopper edition of the 690, you will save abit of money unless you like the look of some of the other blocks for the 690

And that leaves about 1k for WC.

I chose 4gb 670's because they will be alot more future proof, because honestly, you'll run out of Vram before you run out of GPU power on a 690, this is more balanced. Also, 6 cores will last a lot longer than 4+4ht ones

She has her heart set on the 690, and she also wants to purchase a monitor with her budget
