Sigh, swappable op-amps. Completely ridiculous feature that caters towards subjectivist audiophiles and serves no real performance-enhancing purpose.

For me M-Audio/Sennhiser/AKG is the new creative. Creative is less production/Audiophile gear and more gaming gear. It's a shame, i liked creative. Its actually the reason my username is what it is. wink.gif

Thread Starter
The first cards should reach early buyers next week, so that's when we might start seeing some reviews.

Well I went ahead and bought the creative Z. I think they are all the same apart from a few key differences, the Zx has the desktop gadget that you can plug your headphones into and controls the volume, the Zxr has the daughter board and has swappable OP-AMPS.

According to some russian site that took the cards apart, the Z series cards use the same DAC that is used in the Titanium HD and the headphone amp is the same one used in the Asus essence ST/STX. And I might be picking this up wrong but it seems that music is sent through the DAC and Games audio is sent through the sound core 3d processor.

Well, based on that russian site I decided to give the Z a go and purchased it last week. It should arrive either tomorrow or thursday and I can post up my impressions when I get it. I currently have an Asus Xonar DG.

Only the ZxR. Z and Zx use the same Cirrus Logic CS4398 from the DX and older top end X-FI elite pro.
