PSU help

So I am building a second system just for the hell of it. Everything is ready but thats when I find out my psu I was hoping to use was so old it uses the 20pin connector. My question is, is it possible to use 2 power supplies to power my system? use the 20pin connector + the 4pin to power the main motherboard connector and use another 4 pin from another psu to power the motherboard 4pin connector?

I hope that made some since.

Was not sure were to put this so if it is in the wrong area sorry.

Are you saying that you want to use the CPU's 4-pin power cable in combination with the 20-pin to fill up all 24 holes?

 

Either way, why not just buy a new PSU?

yeah that is what I was asking. and I have bought a new psu it will be here in a few days. Just wondering if it would be possible.

The EPS12V connector won't work when paired up with a 20-pin in order to create a 24-pin connector.  I think that the physical fit wouldn't work, but if it does, then the power delivery won't work.  I'm imagining that something would either fry, or it just wouldn't work.  Either way, I personally wouldn't risk it if I had a new PSU on the way.

 

I wish it would work because that would be nice so that you wouldn't have to wait!
