So, I took the plunge and upgraded! New: GTX 680, SSD, PSU, RAM & CPU Cooler.

Hey everyone,

Finally decided it was time for more performance! Tomorrow comes my new components:

240gb Corsair Force Series 3 SSD

16gb (2x8) Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM

750W Corsair AX750 PSU

Corsair H60 CPU Cooler

GTX 680 Point of View Charged 4gb GPU

The vast majority of these components are picked due to aesthetics, it's just a bonus that they're pretty darn good. Money was no issue, I just prefer the look of these over their superior counterparts. I'm a complete sucker for Corsair. As you can probably see! When I take my system apart tonight in preparation for tomorrow, I shall be taking pictures. Same for when the new stuff comes, so if you're interested stay tuned!

I absolutely love the back-plate on the 680. And the fact there's 3 fans, and hopefully overclockable to the same performance as the "2gb beast edition". I know I don't need 4gb of VRAM, but hey... I mod every game that is moddable, to the absolute maximum. I was tempted to SLI/Crossfire, but, honestly... I hate multi-GPU setup's, more trouble than they're worth (although they're getting better).

If anyone has any experience with any of these components positive or negative, feel free to enlighten me! You just gotta get what you want at the end of the day! Absolutely ecstatic for tomorrow!

This is the angle the card will be most viewed at:

PICTURES

I apologise in advance for the poor quality/focus of some of the pictures, it is getting late now, and I can't be bothered faffing with my camera, someone has messed up the settings for macro focus. Exposure levels, no matter what I do, always produce blurry images where I don't want them to be. Ah well, if anyone wants to see more pictures, just ask and I will take some more of specifics you request smile.gif.

Also, I forgot to move my case back to a central position for a couple of the pictures, which ruins the whole image. frown.gif Oh well! Enjoy!

Personally I would have got the H80 over the H60, the rad on the H60 leaves much to be desired.

Also I personally find that GPU ugly. tongue.gif

Regardless it's a nice setup. Enjoy. thumb.gif

Well, my friend has an H60, and it is fantastic. I'm going to be modding it with rubber mounts around the fan's I'll be using. I have 2x 120mm Fractal Design fans. I prefer the look of the H60, the H80 looks a bit too bulky for what I'm after.

I didn't get the GPU for the look of the bottom of the card, I mean, how often do you see it? I'll see the back-plate more than the fans. There's also a big space at the side where I can place my metal "Powered by Corsair sticker" tongue.gif.

I will definitely enjoy it! Thanks for your honest opinion. biggrin.gif!

Cant wait to see the pictures! I too am a sucker for corsair. As far as aesthetics that sabertooth is my favorite biggrin.gif. The backplate does match the sabertooth nicely

I wouldn't use those fractal fans, even the R2 120mms don't move that much air / have the greatest static pressure.
If you want to keep the whole white theme going, see if you can get a couple of Swiftech Helix fans; they're almost as good as GTs and go for about $8-9 per fan.

Indeed it does! biggrin.gif! I love my motherboard, not as much as the Z77 though... And WHY OH WHY didn't they provide the 50mm fan with the P67 board. Oh well! It's going to look totally rad anyway.

Also, I know the fractals are lower CFM and may not push enough, however, if I add rubber mounts it'll be fine. I'll post up the difference tomorrow anyway, still need to purchase the rubber mounts, I used to have the H50, I did the same thing and it was perfect! smile.gif I have plenty of Corsair fans lying round, but they're a bit loud, but I'll still try them out.

Thanks man! You too... Almost drooling over that RAM :O. And your overclock on the 680... Think I'll hit the same? Even though it's not the "lightning"?

I'm being honest, the thicker rad on the H80 is better than the one on the H60.

Also I didn't see the bottom view of the GPU, it's pretty nice actually, I like the backplate look more than an ordinary PCB.
