[Engadget] Razer Deathstalker gaming keyboard announced - Page 16

Why is there so much hate for this keyboard agree insane price, probably a fairly useless touch pad (although I do like the look of it) and maybe not as good for typing as a mechanical keyboard for some, but for gaming I don't see how this keyboard is any worse than any other mechanical keyboard out there I just can't see ANY advantages that a mechanical keyboard would have if anything i think it would better for gaming with its low keys imo.

3 years ago half the PC Gear reviews swore that the best keyboard out there was the G15 now i'm told that the Best keyboard is some ancient IBM keyboard or a Topre keyboard. There all just keyboards and i'm sure that any person that prefers low profile keyboards would love Razers. wink.gif

Because gamers will buy anything that has "gaming" stamped on it. G15 was one of the "best" gaming keyboards of the day because of it's flashydisplay and pointless LED's. Gamer-oriented mechanical keyboards didn't exist, most mechanical keyboards had an extremely simple and minimalist design.
People who already owned mech keyboards with cherry MX red/black switches knew that they were leagues better than G15 for typing and gaming, but the advertisement and popularity just wasn't there.

Companies like Razer (and Apple) use advertising to market products easily to the target audience - basically gamers who don't know what's best for gaming and will gladly accept whatever companies tell them.

I think most opinions in this thread should sum up why gamers will take mech switches over chiclet keys any damn day.

I actually quite like this keyboard. As long as it doesn't have any quality issues like what the Lycosa does, then I see where this keyboard can be of use. Even though it's laptop keys, I still really love laptop keys. Guys, they aren't THAT bad. As long as the price point is kept fair, then i'm up for it. Also, chiclet keys are much better for gaming in the night, as they don't wake up the family.

I'll take rubber domed chiclet keys for gaming anyday. Mech keyboards offer no advantage whatsoever for gaming.

Either way stop trying to postulate your opinions as facts.

I never hinted at such a thing.

It's actually the same as some gamers can be good with a simple Microsoft basic optical mouse. Because a mech. keyboard can give you faster actuation and some mechanicals have 1ms response time/1000hz "ultrapoling".

See... it's almost the same.

See... it's almost the same.

Most "gaming" level keyboards have ultrapolling, it's not a feature specific to mech boards.

They were late to the game, same with the anti-ghosting or whatever you like to call it....
