[The Register] Text-and-drive teens ratted out by AT&T mobe tech - Page 17

In California, I get sick of drivers from all ages driving like they are drunk, only to see them focused on their phones. I don't text when I am driving because I've had an accident once while doing so. If a text is important, I will pull over.

So if there is an app available that prevents teens from using thier phone while driving it automatically becomes law? I missed the memo.
If such a thing was available I would make my teen use it for a number of reasons, the main one being his/her butt will not be the one paying the bills and mourning thier son/ duaghter when the die making a text while driving.

What did people do before there were cell phones? I'm pretty sure they just didn't leave you in your car to die...

Yeah and why would you try to text in the first place. It is a phone as in it can make phone calls. It much faster to dial 911 or any person form your phone book then trying to text for help. Common honestly who in there right mind would try and send a text like "Help someone is trying to run me of the road" rolleyes.gif

That actually would be a great advertisement against texting while driving.

Start with that urban legend where someone passes with headlights off at night, and the driver (female) flashes her lights to let them know, and then they turn around and start chasing her and ramming from behind.

Then she is scared and starts trying to text for help and runs herself off a cliff.

"Help! someone is trying to run me off the r"

Really? A "Typical annoying teen girl driver"?

Sounds to me like the mentality of most of America on matters like this.

i've been having more problems with teenage boys texting lately than girls. sitting at green lights, swerving, etc.

as a side story:

my little sister's friend died while texting. all her friends were very upset, they all have stickers on their cars commemorating her, there was even talk of tattoos.

they all still text while they drive.

It's weird

People can't live with a smart phones and texting

I don't get what the important thing is. A text isn't worth risking your and someone else's life

I've seen firsthand too many accidents with one person with a phone up to his/ her ear.

The last one was two teenage girls in a small Toyota in the lane to my right, and as we approached a RED light, the girls car, with the driver on her phone, never slowed down and drove right into the intersection and got T-boned by a Nissan Altima. Both girls were unhurt, however the older couple in the Maxima had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The funny part is that I and others talked to the police officer on the scene as many people got out of their cars to assist. It was news to the officer that the girl was on the phone. She swore her brakes had failed when she talked to the officer....
