I have been the first to try new operating systems since I was old enough to understand how to install one ... when Vista was Longhorn I loved it ... fell into the trap and upgraded too early.

Just reading, I have 0 interest in W8. Windows ME and Vista, round 3.

I'm still finding it hard to believe anyone used Windows 8 for more than 10 minutes without wanting to through their monitor accross the room. I was frustrated just logging into my computer when I checked it out, much less actually using it.

The reviewer also stated (in the CNET article) that the mouse might go the way of the fax machine..... So I'm going to reach forward and touch my computer screen in the future? Sure... fat chance bud.

BTW, for everyone dogging on Vista... Vista and 7 are almost the same thing. Do some reading.

I like metro, its a start button with more organized shortcuts. As for the metro apps, yeah... That won't work.

Vista worked fine for me....I actually preferred it to XP.. I don't see what the deal with it was, I had no problems with it myself. I like advancement. Thats why I am going to be getting Windows 8 for my main machine.

For instance, I can access and get tasks done faster using a command prompt. I still use 7 though. 8 is no different. I hate the way people wont try anything new. If you like 7, don't buy 8. But it's nothing wrong with us that do want to buy it.

I'll admit, I hated W8 for the longest time, until I tried it a week ago.

Now, I can't stop using it. Everything just seems to run faster, and it's not like it was a fresh install either, I just upgraded from my previous W7 install. I know not everyone will like it, but at least try it out before you say you hate it, who knows, you may actually like it. wink.gif

Explorer's UI is still ugly as hell.

I'm absolutely loving how some of you seem to think Vista was a failure. lachen.gif Comparing Windows 8 to Vista is just funny to say the very least.

I ran Vista on a 1.8GHz dual core Opteron 165, with 2GB of DDR400, and an old 120GB IDE hard drive, with an 8800GT. I ran Vista since release day. Never ONCE did I have a problem except a few blue screens that were due to Nvidia drivers. Vista was actually a good bit FASTER than XP was.

For those of you that never used Vista, you have zero room to talk. Vista = 7, its the same OS with minor GUI changes.

Windows 8 is by far the the most stable and fastest OS that Microsoft have ever released. Metro, as many people have said, is just like a glorified start menu. It just has big links, you can still organize the way the old start menu was organized. I'll certainly be upgrading.
