Then by all means go with the crucial m4 128GB. It is stupid not get double the storage for .50 a gig.

i dont think you need all that speed benefit from 128GB, and as you can see 64GB should be enough considering that you will use HDD as storage.

True, but if others see this thread, they can see that a 64 gig drive is plenty for an OS drive for a HTPC.

Heck, a 30 gig drive would work for a HTPC OS drive, and the (minor) speed difference between the 64 and 128 gig models is not much of an issue for a HTPC.

Actually, Windows 7 Ultimate only took up 21GB of my 128GB SSD upon first install.

If you're just browsing the web, a 30GB SSD would actually work perfectly fine, although I wouldn't recommend it.

Not if you optimize them. Windows 7 for a HTPC can be as small as 8 gb, Ubuntu around 6? (been a while since I messed with it, so not sure).

21Gb. Of 30Gb. So youre leaving like 5GB for the second OS? Cause hes using two OS's. I say 5GB roughly cause you cant use all the data on a drive, or so I have found.

Ah. Yeah, not ideal, but I think with compression and taking out some features it could work. Maybe.

If it's just a HTPC with minimal software, 64GB will suffice.

However, on my main PC with what I deem "minimal software"- Adobe master suite, sony vegas, MS Office 2007 Enterprise, about 20gb of games my little bros play, and some other misc. stuff here and there, even the 128GB doesn't suffice

Remember the actual capacity you get is much lower. My 128GB Mushkin Chronos turned out to be 91GB.

In the past when putting a 64GB OCZ on my lil bro's homework laptop (OS, MS Office, and Photoshop only aside from little things like Java, firefox, skype, etc.), it was more than enough. I'd imagine a 32GB even would suffice, but the price difference is negligible, IMO, so I'd just get a 64/128.
