Hi, does anybody else find that 7 in 10 attempts to install the Xonar DX fail? I can tell when mine isn't gonna install because it doesn't make the clicks at startup; then when I try to install the drivers (asus or UniXonar) it just hangs and very slowly loads that green bar. I've definitely plugged the 4pin power in and it has behaved like this in two systems now...what is up with this thing?

Ive had a similar problem once, suddenly the sound wouldnt work, I unistalled the DX drivers, reistalled, didnt work, took card out reset bios defaluts tried again, no joy. In the end I ran CHKDSK it found and fixed errors, then when I reinstalled the DX it worked a treat. Maybe try a CHKDSK smile.gif

Mine was a little problematic during initial setup (getting the floppy power connector on just right), but once I had that everything has been smooth sailing.

I've got a RIVE and it's in the X1 slot, one up from the bottom, so I guess not. I had it in my previous R3E but in a different slot again (can't remember). What significance rests on the slot, legacy support/unhappy with the PCI3.0 support?

When I had a DX, it wouldn't work in the top slot of any board I had it in, so I always just stuck it in an x16 slot if it was available. Can't say I've had the same issues with the STX, but since it was an issue I could reproduce across a variety of hardware, I figured it was worth mentioning.

Try installing it in an x16 slot if you have an open one. That's what I did since it wouldn't fit in my x1 slot, and it's always worked fine for me

Never had an issue like that with mine, neither with regular drivers or the unifying drivers. That said, I never had it in the top slot on any motherboard. It was in the second x1 slot on my GA-EP45-UD3R and it's currently in the 5th x8 slot on my Z68 FTW.
