SwifTech 655 pump,loose part

Thread Starter
This is a new 655 pump (new in that I have never ran water through it,or powered it up) but not "new in I just recieved it.I probably have had the pump at least 18 months.I was using the pump to mock up a new build. One day I could hear something rattling at the bottom of the pump.I pull off the bottom and I see the capacitor that is identified in the photo loose from the printed circuit board it was supposed to be soldered to.Suprisingly it is not immeditate as to how to fix this issue.I wonder if contacting SwifTech and offering to pay for a repair would be a good idea.If I could see a way to solder the capacitor back on I would.I ask for suggestions.

I would contact Swiftech and see what they say before going any further. I have heard good things about their customer service in the past.

If they don't offer to fix it for free then you can go from there - paid repair or replacement.

Incidentally I was ammused that you held down the shift key whilst typing 655; I do the same thing, especially when starting a sentence with a number.

Ok Thanks, I am working at a bit of a disadvantage as I had my neck fixed (multi-level cervical fusion) and I was just trying to get the post written quickly so I could lay back down. Thanks

I just pulled the back off a pump I have here, and it looks like it would be a real pita to solder unless you can get that board out. I didn't go so far as to try and pull the board out of mine: I want it to continue to work, lol. Depending on your soldering skills, I would say it's doable, but not easy. If I had to pay more than 1/2 the price of the pump including shipping for repairs I would probably try to do it myself.

Mandrix, soldering skills are up to the job but getting the board out in one piece seems to be the problem(I bet one of the people working the line putting these pumps together would have it out promptly).I cannot even tell what side of the board the component attaches to and this would be a job done through the magafying glass. i think I just lost a few bucks unless Swiftech comes to the rescue. Thanks

I didn't realize you didn't know where it was soldered, or I would have taken a pic while I had the pump down. I got the BP mod kit and top in today and the pump is now installed in my rig so pics are a no go. Sorry, wish I'd known.
