That crap lasted about 1 hr on my SSD. I do not know why I keep installing this poor excuse of a desktop OS. Yeah! It boots faster but the Metro crap is just stupid for desktop use. *** i dont care about apps on my desktop. That is why I have an iphone. If they included and install option to not install metro than there might be hope? You cant even put the my computer icon on the desktop. I could only get the my computer to park in the task bar and do menus. *** is Microsquish thinking? No wonder there pawning this **** off for 32.00 to upgrade to it. I would not pay 10.00 to upgrade to this junk. Lol!

I've been running Windows 8 both at work and at home, haven't run into any issues with drivers or compatibility issues with any recent programs as of yet. I do think they messed up axing the XP mode (you can use the Hypervisor to set up a VM if your hardware supports it). Overall I am pretty happy with it, faster boot times and the smart program filter works well (blocking unknown applications and defaulting to not allow them without user interaction)

I did use "Classic Shell" to replace the "metro" functionality.

Right click on the desktop, choose Personalize, click on "Change desktop Icons" check off my computer. Just like Windows 7 and Vista

Just the fact that Microsquish is forcing people per say to use there tablet OS via Metro puts a bad taste in my case man. Why not set an option to disable there apps, metro crap? Money! They want people to buy more crap. Like Google Chrome and google selling apps for a internet browser. Last I heard Computers ran programs, software and phones and tablets run apps. rolleyes.gif lol!

and what happens in the following post and then again by the same member 2 posts later doh.gif Seriously, please only posts results. Some of us actually want facts, not just your opinion on the UI. I personally have gotten used to it and am only concerned with performance for my new build. I'm not upgrading my existing Windows 7 machines, but need to make an informed decision on a new OS copy.
