Talking to one's self in general is a good method.

I'm not talking to myself, I am talking to my computer. It is a very productive thing to do.

Just do it. Play the scariest one out there first try. Force yourself. As long as the game is enjoyable (if the thrill isn't for you why bother?) it'll be worth it in then end even if you end up walking around the house with a weapon or yellowing your chair. biggrin.gif

No game is scary if you follow the principle that something can jump out at any time.

I liken it to watching a scary movie for the second time, you've already seen it so you just prepare yourself for the guy to jump out in front of you. If you play a game or watch a film with this idea in mind then it doesn't matter what jumps out, it won't be scary.

Besides a large proportion of 'scary' movies/ games are incredibly predictable so it's easy to tell when something will jump out.

You should be scared playing a horror game, trying to rationalise it ruins the experience, get stuck in and imagine it's real! In the end rationalising it and taking steps to not be scared is more sissy, it's being afraid of being afraid tongue.gif

There's a difference between finding something 'scary' and finding something 'creepy'.

A game is good when you find it creepy and occasionally scary, but if you find the entire game unbearably scary then it's just not enjoyable.

I'm terrified of Dead space, I play it for an hour a month at most I'm still early in the game lol. I love it though.

if only I could do that. Even the background creepy music in Amnesia reminds me how I am in a game.
