[SOLVED] Asus Xonar Essence ST driver problem.

I've done all the Google search and it has lead to many threads, with no answers.

My problem is, I just bought and installed my Asus Xonar Essence ST and the drivers aren't working.

The problem I get is always "Please plug in the ST".

I have installed the card to the PCI properly and plugged in the molex, disabled the onboard audio. When I boot the computer it appears in the Device Manger, when I install the driver I get this error.

Also if I choose Automatic Update for the card, it says "Driver installed successfully" but still no sound.

Any suggestions?

Edit: Managed to install the driver after I ran this little utility but still no sound.

Thanks for your response Simca.

I've been trying to install this driver for the past 30 minutes, but with no luck.

Edit: This is so bloody frustrating! I, in a way, KNOW that this is not a bad card (dead) but still it just does not at ALL seem to work, no matter how hard I try.

Edit! - Fixed!

Okey so basically, this is what I did and finally worked!

Before you do anything - just to be sure! Goto this site - Download restoree.exe - Put it on a USB drive, boot from the drive - Enter OS!

1. Make sure that there is no audio driver installed - at all! No Creative, Asus, Realtek or what ever. I made sure that the Asus had the yellow triangle in Device manager so there was definitely nothing installed!

2. Driver Sweeper everything that ended with Audio. Realtek Audio, Asus Audio, Creative Audio etc.

3. Downloaded a driver that was about 1,3 Mb, and installed it with Device Manager > "Unknown Sound Device" (Asus card) > Update and waited!

4. Driver has successfully been installed.

5. Next thing I did was to download the other driver (apparently) which was about 13,3 Mb - installed it!

6. Opened up the UNi Xonar Audio Center.

7. Analog Out = Headphones!

8. Success, at last!

Note. that I did NOT end up by installing the Asus driver, but the UNi Xonar driver!

Download and install this driver first!

Than install this one, AFTER the first one has been successfully installed!

There is probably an easier way to do this, but this one worked for me after millions attempts!
