Metro 2033 was probably better looking than crysis imo, but it was a very closed narrow shooter in comparison to crysis, so I am not sure of it is a fair comparison. Witcher 2 is probably the best looking game around at the moment.

Actually I must say the new far cry is looking pretty sweet visually.

I think the same thing, metro had a much better story, much better atmosphere and better gameplay. But this guy was arguing graphics and optimization which I think Crysis did better.

Indeed, Metro absolutely crawled and didn't look good enough for the loss of optimization. Crysis 2 did a much better job (DX11 + MaLDo textures obviously), looks stunning and runs smoothly!

But Crysis 2 had a terrible problem with GPU usage.

I hope Crysis 3 is a hybrid of Metro and C2 performance- the excellent usage of Metro with the better optimization of C2. Metro was a lot more demanding but only dropped from 99% GPU usage in SLI when the framerate hit 120fps, which is more than I can say about C2.

Yeah I totally agree. Metro was extremely engaging not to mention quite the looker redface.gif

 

You never know I met this one guy who claimed he had an SR2 setup running x4 580s and that was completely bogus. He had a nice rig but BS'ed his specs hard.

 

I thought Metro 2033 was garbage. The game play was generic at best and the only thing the game had going for it was graphics. It was horribly optimized and it crawled. There was hardly any real settings you could tweak unless you played with the INI files and Vsync hardly worked

 

I have no doubt in my mind that Cryteks engine CAN destroy hardware but they need to stop focusing on crap consoles and work exclusively on PC again. Crytek has the best engine around capable on massacring hardware but only time will tell.

Add the HD textures, xtreme FX, and a few other mods, and then see what happens, lmao.

I was able to get my sig rig to slow down crysis 1 with about 5 high def mods. Average FPS was about 25-30 FPS.

I've never seen anything like it. Except the Witcher 2, with Uber sampling and maxed.
