Iphone......am I missing something?

Thread Starter
I've used a Blackberry Bold 9700 for the past couple years and it gets the job done, nice keypad, etc..

I just used a coworkers iphone.......and I don't get it guys......there is no keypad, it took me forever to type a message and set up an email account on his phone......why is this thing so popular? It seems extremely inefficient to use.

A Blackberry is all about efficiency. Basically that's why I just said too. Touch screen smartphones also have a "toy" side while a Blackberry is pretty much only for work hence why you're more efficient with it.

I had a hard time typing when I first got mine and now find it easier to use than phones with a pull out keyboard.

The more you use it the more efficient it becomes. (It learns your spelling, you add apps to do what you want to do. It gets at least one software update a year)
I've owned a BB before and it drove me crazy after a few months. Almost a year in and the iPhone is still as crisp and responsive as the day I got it.
Overall though, it's a matter of preference. Each person has his own taste.
If you give it some time, you'll learn to love it.thumb.gif

I had (and still have) my Bold 9000 for a couple of years. I love that thing, it's brilliantly easy to type on, even without looking, thanks to it's QWERTY Keyboard/pad.
Got myself an Xperia Play a couple of months back (Yeah I know, I only wanted the pretty controller part of it) and I'm slowly getting to grips with it. Took me 2 weeks to get the hang of touchscreen typing and in that time I even brought some crappy stylus things that were even worse..

All I can say is touchscreen phones require a lot more patience at first, and a good keyboard app.. (Love SwiftKey X / 3)

With SwiftKey3 I can type faster on my touchscreen phone than I could with my BlackBerry hardware keyboard.
I had a crap messenging phone before with a slide down keyboard that was great for typing on but honestly I could go either way. My new phone has swype on it which I enjoy, even when it picks the wrong words. Its good for a laugh.

It's popular because Apple markets it to make you think that you will have bigger genitals if you own an iPhone.
