That's Exactly what I'm looking for!

For the life of me I just cant see to get stability from the NB, I guess I could manually set my HT to 2000 and start bumping the nb one at a time. What kind of volts should I be aiming for for each bump of the nb?

1.3V @ 2600/2800MHz-ish.

It takes 1.35V for 3000MHz on my motherboard, but each 200MHz bump is worth it.

I'd just go ahead and turn the volts to 1.3V and just bump the CPU/NB 200MHz, test for stability, and repeat.

I've recently got new fans, new heatsinks, so now its at 42-43C Peek during 12hour Prime95 Blend testing, so I know I can get more out of it.
I do hope it's not just a bad chip, What would be the next step? I've tried 3 stepping CPU/NB up to 1.35 Volts, I've tried 2 stepping the CPU Vcore to 1.48 Volts. I honestly dont know what the correct sequence of overclocking should be.
Firstly I tried to find the highest Bus speed, but was only able to get 3.6 ghz or so, as upping the multi would then bsod on Prime.
So far this is the highest I've been able to get it, so close, yet so far lol.
Right now I've only managed to keep it stable with NB and HT set to Auto, which I'm sure is hindering my current overclock potential.
If someone would be willing to spend some time in helping me with my overclock, just to give tips, or advice I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks smile.gif

I leave the FSB to 200, and just play with the multiplier.

You should set the HT link to 2000 and the NB speed to 2800 @ around 1.3-1.35.

I can reach 4.2GHZ @ 1.44V on mine, but I'm quite sure that I got a good chip. You should be able to reach 4GHZ with 1.4-1.45 Vcore.

You can do some over clocking with your board but be sure to get some cooling on the VRM's and NB
post #16 of 34
yes grab a fan and zip tie the thing to it or pick up some sick on heat sinks..anything is better than running bare
common thing to do i grab ram cooler and rig it to run right over them
edit also : i can only get to 3.8 on mine thus far and im on a 890fx board with custom liquid cooling (triple 120+140)
doesn't matter what voltage i run it at the sucker aint getting over 3.8 stable

Might rig up something, wouldn't want it moving on me tongue.gif

Seems like there's just a couple chips that simply refuse to pass the 3.8 mark. Even if I cant get the clock above 3.81, I'll atleast tweak the vcore/nb speed + volts to make it quicker, and possibly below 40's

I never thought about my VRM's heatsink. I just assumed it had one lol, the NB has a heatsink, and theres pretty good flow from the 3 big cpu fans, the flow it pretty good but not having a heatsink on the VRM's is a prob.

More like some chips require exponential voltage increases to pass 3.8ghz.

I can run 3.8ghz stable at 1.400vcore under full load -- but it takes .me 1.525vcore to run 4ghz stable. This is just stupidly high and really pushin it, so I settle for 3925mhz @ 1.489vcore heavy load.

You're gonna be fine @ 3.8ghz. Like others have said, just focus on getting your NB up to the 2800mhz range. This will give you TANGIBLE results mind you (ie your PC will "feel snappier" when multitasking especially)

At 3925mhz I can run the Dolphin Wii/Gamecube emulator, AND the far more intensive PCSx2 PS2 emulator and run ALL GAMES at full emulator speed, with all the eye candy enabled etc.

Pcsx2 is notoriously CPU dependent -- many people say Thubans can't even run games well on it period. They're all Intel fanboys who are simply repeating things they head others say.

I'm going to try and get my NB to 2800 atleast, aiming for 3000 but we'll see how we go.

As per recommendations ill leave the clock at 3.85, I would like to do some timing tweaking on my ram. It's just something I've never messed with. I'll sort out my NB speed first.

When clocking the RAM, what should I start with?
