Besides, the voltage set in the UEFI BIOS isn't the actual voltage that's going through the CPU.

So, the reason why you get instability and BSODs with the LLC set to Medium is that the full-load voltage isn't high enough.  I mean, it's not because it's a bad LLC setting.  All that really matters is what the full-load voltage is, however using lower LLC levels also results in lower VRM temps.

So if I am understanding you correctly using medium setting and higher bios vcore to make stable actually will reduce temps? Id like to goo for 4.8 myself but it needed 1.4v min

However, I am glad to see that you are using an Offset!

Also, I recommend using an LLC setting of Medium.

Oh wow, it's like I'm there looking at it in person.  smile.gif

Thanks,

I shall try this shortly.

Well, setting 1.4V in the BIOS doesn't mean that the CPU has 1.4V going through it.  What matters is the voltage seen in CPU-Z.

The VRM is the Voltage Regulator Module, and I've seen others here on OCN say that the VRM's temps aren't as high with lower LLC levels.  I haven't tested this, but I believe them anyway.  I think JJ said it too, but I can't remember.

Hey fella, what WC are you using exactly?

I have a 3570K and my highest core temp hits 83C at 4.5GHz with 1.27v LLC Extreme. Going to be re-seating my block soon, but I'm just wondering if we've just got bad chips, well maybe I have as I'm running far less volts, but I'm running an RX360 in P/P and a RX240 in Pull and my temps are well very disappointing.

But like I say, perhaps we just seriously lost the silicone lottery frown.gif

i cant speak for you, but the P9X79 WS even on highest LLC setting has no vrise. also using offset is stupid when doing overclocking.

yeah the temperature for the things that keep too much voltage from going through to the CPU and killing it totally dosent matter.

I was meaning that My VRM temps are already really low so they are not the main concern, as they are already really low.

I'm using a EX360 in pull.

Gonna mess around with my offset later on, as I'm just about to head out.

Hopefully I can bring it down....alot.

Nobody really watches VRM temps too much, that's why even the Intel Tech Support completely disregards the VRM temp when assessing your temps and voltages. Also, Offset is probably the best thing for overclocking. It's the best thing in the world. Prevents your CPU from running at a constant voltage in which if it gets too high is bad when all you're doing is web browsing. I mean really? Why would you think offset is useless? Just because you want to constantly run a high amount of voltage compared to stock shouldn't make you tell other people that offset is dumb for overclocking.
