PhysX always seems to bring some pretty cool effects in my opinion, except the highest setting in Mafia 2 was just too junky.
I do sympathize with the exclusive AMD GPU users though. It really isn't completely fair to miss out on good stuff because of proprietary technology like this. On the other hand, I can't make a lot of sense out of refusing to buy the game for only that reason. It's still going to look great regardless of PhysX.

Forgive my being uneducated on other things a good physics engine provides, but here I was going on the perspective of visuals alone.

I made a thread to discuss the use of AMD + Physx cards here and a poll.

Here's the thing:
More Physx users means more Physx games, which means more Nvidia cards sold and more immersive games for us. It makes total sense.
If you're going to continue to try and argue against opening up the possibilities of letting AMD users run an Nvidia Physx card in their system I do't see any point in talking further. There is zero harm in doing it. None at all. I'm a big NVidia fan and I haven't looked at an aTI/AMD card for years but I'm happy to talk about this stuff because I'm not a fanboy.

OK, so you can't defend your point so you're resorting to closing off discussion because you claim you proved your point and attacking me by calling me a fanboy. And, you claim you never said the obviously contradictory things I summarized.

Here are some things you've said in this thread. My summation isn't off. You might be the one having trouble comprehending what you wrote...

"No, to be quite honest they could allow people to run Physx on the NVidia GPU in the system. There's no reason not to. If someone has AMD they didn't buy NVidia, but they might buy one if they could use Physx, even a lower end one puts market share figures up and also a sale is a sale."

"And your logic is flawed entirely. If Physx is more prevalent in people's systems, then developers would use it more and if developers use it more, Physx becomes more prevalent! The more developers use Physx the more Nvidia cards get sold. Simple as that."

"By letting AMD owners run NVidia Physx cards in their system it's a WIN-WIN for Nvidia because the AMD owner has to buy an Nvidia card, making them money, AND it puts their market share up, giving them more coverage."

"I see it like this, too (regarding second hand cards) is that if more developers want Physx, they can finally push for some of the more advanced stuff we see in tech demos and make it so Physx requires a stronger system. Therefore older 8800GT cards wouldn't cut it (they don't these days anyway). And even then, it'd still push for higher spec'd Physx effects, which would push Nvidia fans to buy better cards anyway."

"Also, who's to say people buy brand new Nvidia cards to get Physx anyway?"

"Personally, as an Nvidia user I want to see more Physx and that's only really going to happen if it's adopted more.... Which isn't going to happen until more people can use it."

^ I didn't call you a fanboy. And I'm closing off the discussion because I can't be bothered to debate erroneous crap with you. Physx would be a lot better if everyone could use it. Simple as. My point in saying that I'm not a fanboy was that I'm an Nvidia user and have been for some time, yet I actively want AMD users to be able to enjoy the effects too, not to accuse you of being a fanboy.

EDIT:

anyway, I made a thread for AMD + Physx discussion here. Take it over there if you like but this thread is about Borderlands 2 and we've derailed it far enough

Such a lively conversation!!

I have given my input and will finish with one last thought....

Nvidia doesn't have to offer support to AMD users who run a second Nvidia card for Physx, but they don't have to go out of their way to lock out that option. The people who would be going that route would already have an above average understanding of computers and probably wouldn't need support, and those that would need it could get it from the community.

Right now I am using an Nvidia card, I am moving to AMD for the release of Borderlands and newer games coming out, I absolutely hate the 256-bit/2GB configuration on the 600 series, but that is another conversation. If Nvidia didn't lockout Physx from systems with AMD main cards, I would also purchase an Nvidia card and run it for Physx, just for the extra little effects. Unfortunately for Nvidia they won't be getting my money this round, as I am not going to go through the hassle of using custom and hacked drivers to get it to work.

I bet every ones tunes would change if it was the other way about. If it was amd only physx, they would be like ahh its just fair business practice etc.
This thread stinks of jealousy, you all bought into amd knowing what nvidia had to offer.

Also this looks amazing, have it pre ordered but not for physx. This is just icing on the cake. Physx is not adding that much, so you are not missing out on much. Also I cant believe the people that are not buying this now because amd do not get physx.
It still has superior pc options either way and not a direct port. It's just nvidia gets a little extra because they paid for it.

And buying new doesn't always factor into it at all. I sold my old GTX260 on OCN to someone who was using it for Physx (with a GTX570, I think). Even Nvidia fans don't always buy new.
Nothing can be said for certain but as an Nvidia user since the 8800GT I can say it sucks that a lot of people are excluded and it sucks to have to read these people coming out in force picking reasons that Physx apparently sucks every time there's a new thread about it.
That was my point. The secondary physx card isn't making money for nvidia (mostly). People buy a big card, and MAYBE a secondary card for physx. Nvidia wants that main card to be theres, or make money from AMD (which AMD declined) when it's theres. If people are to be mad, be mad at AMD for not taking the offer. It is purely nvidias decision, and I agree with their decision to try and block AMD + physx card. the dedicated physx card is mainly meant for when you upgrade your card, say to a 560ti, but you still have your old 460.. you can still have a use for it. The main point of the counterside is the guy who bought a 260 to use with a 570 could ALREADY use physx, he added an older card to make it faster.
Now we're back to my old point.. (barring 3d vision) when i get a new card, without Physx being a factor, there is nothing to really influence me to buy Nvidia over AMD. It would basically go to my budget, then based on who can give me the most FPS for that (i don't know which that would be, but it COULD just as well be AMD now). as it is now, besides 6 monitor setups, i dont see the reason anyone would want an AMD card over nvidia, the price isnt that much different between similarly performing cards, and nvidia offers 3d vision and physx. I also understand wanting a new card now, AMDs just came out, and nvidia is still a while away, that's justifiable to me. but other than that, i dont see why one would pick AMD.. and i dont wanna hear no BS about morals and business practices, that's utter crap and the people spouting that off know it.

For One I am not Jealous I knew phsyx was on a nvidia card. I didn't buy into any thing. I came from Two GTX 460's because I wanted one GPU and wanted room for other things. I stop caring about phsyx which why I didn't bother doing the mod thats out that aloud users to use a AMD card as their main while a nvidia card for phsyx. Other then Not being able to use Lucid Virtu MVP if I do, as I see Virtual Vsync and HF being more important to me then phsyx.

So don't group me up with other people.
