New - Evga Gtx 660 ti decisions....

Hi everyone,

Evga´s gtx 660 ti just arrived today so I was fairly excited about getting 2 of them, however just looked on the prices and..... got a bit sad... biggrin.gif

I´m buying evga only and using their european site.

As you can see on my sig rig, I had a gtx 670 which I gave to my younger brother for gaming and such, so I wanted to get a new gpu now, however I don´t really have lots of money right now to spend on gpus, so I´ll be getting one now and another latter.

the fact is that in evga europe sites the prices are

gtx 670 - 399€
gtx 660 - 325€
gtx 560 ti 448 FTW - 250€

I am a very casual gamer, I do mostly rendering and such, but I am getting really tired of the gpu built in the new ivy bridge..... biggrin.gif

Do you guys think I can get some good performance getting a gtx 560... right now and another in a couple of months or should I just go for the 670 again...?

I really don´t see a point in going for the 660 since it´s not a lot cheaper than the 670.....

I don´t really want super perfomance on graphics just something really nice to enjoy some casual gaming at decent fps, and I only play at 1680x1050 the max my monitor can handle (Samsung 206 Bw).

Can you guys give me your thoughts?, and do you advice Ati?, I heard they have really bad drivers....

Many thanks everyone thumb.gif

Edit: I´m not comparing direct performace, that is obvious the higher cards win, I just need a opinion if the money is worth it, since my bank account is going on the low side biggrin.gif , so money is a big issue in my purchase, ohh and games I play... well I do play a bit of everything my brother has... mass effect, crysis, guild wars, dragon age, BF3..... not a specific genre
Again many thanks ! smile.gif

get your gpu back from your brother? I think the 670 is a better option than a 660 ti, but the 7870 and 7950s are in pretty good spots too. I would go for single best card as multi card can be a hassle.

Thanks for the reply,

I´ve heard a lot about being hard to do sli, but do you mean I should only go sli if I know a bit about programing and coding? because I don´t....

I can´t get it back from my brother, because it´s the only gpu he has, and his cpu doesn´t have a integrated gpu... and also he would be kind of mad at me lool biggrin.gif

I bought that 670, and in fact my whole rig when I got a bonus from work, but right now with new taxes and the european economy geting really hard I really don´t have 400€ to spend on pc components, I can maybe strech to 325 but I though the 660 would be cheaper.. and I better save some cash, and my resolutions isn´t too demanding...

Many thanks for the reply smile.gif

SLI is easy - Just connect the bridge and check the box in the nvidia control panel. For now you may consider buying a single 660 Ti and adding another down the road if you want more performance.

Many thanks for clearing that up with the sli setup. thumb.gif

Many thanks to evryone for helping me out, i guess I´ll hold on a little more with the integrated gpu on the ivy and save for a 670, even though I like the 660 its only 75 € to the 670 and I really liked my old gtx 670 rolleyes.gif So I guess no gaming for me for some months biggrin.gif

Go with the 670 and only reason I personally dont like dual gpu is because a lot of newer games have problems with them and drivers are always a hassle. But thats just me.
