GIGABYTE 8IPE1000-G RAM Speed problem -

Hi there folks, Im a newb here and I have a problem that I hope one of you educated veterans can help me with. Its probably a simple fix. I think im fairly tech minded but this one has me goofed, I claim no expert status!!

My RAM appears to be running at 200Mhz when i think it should be 400Mhz? Am I wrong or missing something? Yes its an old clanger but it works well for me.

I have the above motherboard with Intel P4 with 3.00Ghz processor. My RAM is ValueSelect Corsair 512Mb PC3200 400Mhz x 4 = 2Gb system memory.

I have taken some screen shots using CPU-Z program to provide some system info along with the text file report . I have looked through BIOS including the advanced "ctrl-F1" advanced BIOS menu. I cant see anything to set memory speed to 400Mhz, or anything that looks related to it.

There is an FSB:DRAM ration of 1:1 shown in CUP-Z but i cant see anything in Bios related to this either.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about putting this right, presuming my RAM really is running at half its bandwidth speed.

Thx in advance, V (for Vinny :-/)

Your memory is DDR, or Double Data Rate. What this means is that data is sent both on the on and off signals of the RAM bus clock, or basically twice the Ram bus speed. CPU-Z reports the RAM bus clock rather than the rated RAM speed, thus, you get half the "rated" speed.

In other words, your RAM is fine, CPU-Z just reports it funny.
