650M, 660M ,670M need help

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm looking in buying a laptop for school and to play games on. I want to know how much of a difference these cards have. I want to know before I spend too much money on a card upgrade and having the specs being very similar. (Custom Built). If anyone has any answers that would be ideal!

Hi!

I have the GTS 650M myself, and so far it has ran everything I threw at it quite well (Skyrim, Portal 2, Dirt 2). I've looked up the other cards, and they all seem quite similar indeed, though the GTX 670M only has 336 shader cores, while the others all have 384. The GTX 660m seems to have the highest clockspeed (865Mhz), so unless you end up getting the GTX 680M (1344 shader cores, like the desktop 670), that seems to be the best bet.

If that comes in at a too high price premium, I'd suggest getting a 650M with GDDR5 and clock it up yourself, as it's virtually the same chip..

The 670M is fermi based and actually clocks quite well (around 40%) and pulls that much ahead of the 650/660M if you tweak it. It will be hotter and have a larger cooling system though.

The 680M has quite a price premium but is quite a lot faster than any other mobile card.
