[Build Log] Mini Elite Crusher - Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - Page 5

Awesome inspiring work thumb.gif

The fractal design r2 is like x4 as expensive though haha and smaller. The only real drawback I see to this case is the front panel...I don't like the aesthetics. It's tempting to go get one and paint it white biggrin.gif

Thanks man, yeah it's hard to shell out that much cash when I know I'm going to have to get a larger/different PSU, which is also coming at a premium since silverstone really makes the only true hardcore sfx psu option to run a high end gpu and then to top it off I'm not using any part of what the case was made for plus I think the ventilation is worse than the CM Elite 120 stock setup.

It would definitely be an awesome mod challenge though which is what I look for as I kind of like an underdog case biggrin.gif

I have plans to change out the front of the case and was working on it earlier in my build, I'm essentially going to use 3-4 acrylic panels stacked upon each other with the front one holding IO and buttons as well as the opening for the 5.25 bay, the front will be covered in DiNoc carbon fiber but the other panels will be left bare on the sides.

I plan on drilling some holds into the panels and from the inside of the case insert blue leds to light up the front outside of the case, should look pretty slick when it's done.

I'm just glad I can use this bad boy while I work on other pieces and parts of the asthetics biggrin.gif

As far as case size goes the sizes aren't terribly different:

CM Elite 120:
Physical Spec
Dimensions 15.8" x 9.4" x 8.2"
Weight 7.3 lbs.

FD Array R2:
Physical Spec
Dimensions 13.78" x 9.84" x 7.87"
Weight 9.04 lbs

Which reminds me, with all of my components in the case the final build weight was 25.8 lbs! eek.gif

Thanks!

I actually have an update tonight but no pictures yet as they are on the Mrs camera but I'll get them uploaded tomorrow.

I installed some UV blue sata cables and got rid of the sore thumb red sata cables I was forced to use in my black, white and blue build. I also installed the lighting cable that came with the GPU water cooling block by XSPC.

All I can say is wow, this thing looks sick with some lighting and the modded side panels with the modders mesh from mnpctech.

I'm going to be painting the mesh a dark blue that will have some flake in it as well, should look pretty cool.

Liking what you've done so far! Good job. thumb.gif

I recently picked up an Elite 120 Advanced and will be doing a build log soon for an HTPC. Just Air and some decent but cheap parts but plenty for what I want it to do.

Just need motherboard, RAM, CPU and PSU so almost there.

Your work is inspiring so far to get it done.

I can't wait to work with this case and see what mods I can do.

Thanks! Can't wait to get the front of the case done, need to order some more parts before that'll happen though frown.gif

What parts are you going with, curious as to what cooler/cpu combo you have chosen biggrin.gif

I'm really wanting to do an FM1 but the options for ITX boards are like 2 different boards. I picked up a cheap 6770 so I could do crossfire and as for the cooler something low profile of course but still haven't decided.

Those new Silverstone 450W Gold modular PSUs have caught my eye but I'm trying to go cheap on this build.

I'm considering a window mod at the least because my modding options are limited because of my apartment.

Build log should be posted soon.

Still need cooler, CPU, Motherboard and PSU and some sleeving and other odds and ends.

LOVE the DI-Noc on the front man! thanks for being pretty much the only person detailing a WC build with this case thumb.gif
I will most likely be using this case now since its ridiculously cheap and can be WC'd.

Hah, thanks for the comments, it's a great case honestly for air or water, I'd say better for water.

Make sure to do a build thread for your setup once you start, there are others attempting wc on this case but I think most of them are having rads or fans or both sticking out of the case, I really wanted to have it appear normal from the outside when I did this.

can anyone tell me the best cpu cooler i can use in this case without protruding over the memory and graphics slot? will the Scythe Shuriken Rev.B hit the graphics card does anyone know?
i see a video where coolermaster use their own m4 but i read its hardly any better than the stock coller of my i5-3570k. tx.
