For a while I ran f@h, but two things, 1. Debian gnu/linux made a change redering it incompatble with v7
2. I found out bonic is FOSS

I am a major supporter of foss. F@h was the only non-foss thing I had installed, and now I'm looking to give my extra hertz to a good, foss based network. Some questions.

1. Is there a credit/point system?
2. Bonic is licensesed as lgpl. Does it draw on any non-foss program? I want %100 foss. If its the projects that may not be foss which ones are? I want to bonic but foss is an ethnic moral for me. I felt almost dirty seeing f@h pop up in my vrms readout.
3. Any good guides? System is debian gnu/linux stable, x64

Haven't BOINC'd in a few years, but I'll try to help:

1) Yup! Unified points system indeed. BOINC is a framework for many projects, so points awarded can vary between them. Ones I know about are Rosetta (protein), SETI, and PrimeGrid...though there are many, many more out there [and I'm sure someone else can chime in and provide an exhaustive list!

2) Sorry, don't know.
3) I used this basic guide when installing on linux.

Thanks for the quick reponse. Looking over I can see that many projects are gpled. I'm looking closly at seti@home right now. I'm going to assum the bonic is lgpl to link to non-gpl projects, so if I use a foss one, nothing wouldbe non-foss

I know BOINC is open source, and that is the framework that all the projects use. I am not aware of any FOSS projects at the moment. There are some pretty cool projects though.

I looked through a handful of the medical projects and did not find a FOSS project. It is good to know that those projects you listed are FOSS. I spend a lot of time on POEM and it is not FOSS, but is still a worthy project in my opinion.
