ohh man, i have been dealing with the same problem for months but no luck...reinstalled OS many times and would get "cannot copy xxx.dll" from 60-90%...overclocked to 3.8 and defaulted back to 3.0 cuz it warmed up my room..i've tried to overclocked it back to 3.8 but problems would not go away..i'll try to do it again hope luck is on my side this time around...thank you for posting this problem up...Quote

(everytime i do it, its the same error but just different file, sometimes its the same file). so i thought it was my hdd, so i change it to my other one but no, its the same thing. i then used my old mobo, old ram and then tried it. yes..it worked! but i don't want to use my old parts. so i thought it was a problem with my new mobo (but then again why would it be? its one week old. so i tried it again with my new mobo hoping that this time it would work. nope..no luck.. i was getting frustrated, so i thought about overclocking it back to 3.8ghz and voila..it worked. i was just wondering why all this happened just because i set my cpu settings back to default? anyone out there knows? if you do i'd appreciate the help..thanks..

PS. Sorry if i wrote too much stuff..i wanted to ellaborate so u guys would understand

Next time reset the cmos, by pulling the boards battery out for 10 seconds or so, then put it back in.

Actually I just had this problem when I was reloading a work computer. Everytime around 40-45% it would say "Can't copy xxx.dll" Retry-Ignore-Cancel

Turns out my SP2 slip streamed disk got a little over used. It had a ton of scratches. I burned a new copy and it worked flawless.

I hope this is the same case with your problem because it's a quick fix.

Couple of other things to try:

1. run chkdsk, might have a bad sector
2. try putting the disk in a different cd-rom

Try different RAM or changing the positions. I had that same problem and it was because the RAM didn't agree with my motherboard in those particualr slots.
culprit is in the RAM. i found out that i was getting those "cannot copy file" errors because i had a bad stick of RAM. i checked my stick of RAM with memtest and came up with hundreds of errors. so check your RAM with memtest. if your free of errors and that still doesn't work, try not using an OEM version of windows. stick to retail, and please fill up your user spec so we know what kind of system you got.

i was running memtest86 this morning and it has tons of errors with the two sticks of RAM sitting on it, so i took one out and it has no errors but i did not run a complete test bcuz didnt have time. i'll try to test one at a time and two together or switch location...what if i can't run 2 together? it's still under warranty. do you guys think i should RMA for a replacement? thanks guys

yeah, try testing one RAM at a time. if you found no errors on 1 stick then try installing windows. you can run 1 stick but it'll only be on single channel. if i were you i'd RMA them and get some new RAMs
